Embracing Our Vibrant Community: Building Bridges in Brisbane.

In a time when Brisbane is championing connection and cohesion, it’s a beautiful thing to be part of our dynamic community and to celebrate the rich multicultural landscape we share.

A heartfelt thank you to Faysel Ahmed Selat,President QACC for the gracious invitation and to the Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner, for hosting such a distinguished event.

Engagement is essential, but collaboration is paramount.

The KIQ administration and members of our community had the honor of attending the recent Lord Mayor’s African Civic Reception at Brisbane City Hall. Events like these reaffirm a vital truth: strong cities thrive on intentional connections. It’s not just about acknowledging the contributions of civil society; it’s about transforming presence into lasting partnerships and collaborative action.

Engaging with civic leaders dedicated to driving impactful change across various sectors was truly inspiring. Our conversations underscored that belonging, economic participation, and representation flourish when government, institutions, and communities unite to co-design solutions.

A special thank you to Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and the Queensland African Communities Councilfor facilitating this invaluable platform for dialogue and collaboration.

Message for Africa Day Celebration.

Recently, we had the honor of participating in Africa Day, a powerful reminder of our shared heritage and the vibrant tapestry that makes up our continent. As proud members of the Kenyan community in Queensland, we stand united, celebrating not only our identity but also the strength that comes from our diversity.

We would like to express our deep appreciation for President Faysel Ahmed Selat and the incredible work he’s doing through the Queensland African Communities Council (QACC). His leadership embodies the spirit of collaboration and serves as a beacon for all of us striving for a brighter future.

A special mention goes to our President, Antony Kamau, who was given the rare privilege of being the MC for the event. His eloquence and passion truly exemplified the spirit of Africa Day, bringing our stories and aspirations to the forefront.

We’d also like to highlight that our KIQ booth was proudly sponsored by Coop Bank Kenya. This esteemed institution is dedicated to empowering communities by providing accessible banking solutions, supporting small businesses, and promoting sustainable development. Their commitment to fostering economic growth aligns perfectly with our mission as a community.

Our recent gathering with leaders from various communities showcased the power of unity. As Jomo Kenyatta aptly said, “The hour has come to lift our heads high and to declare that we are proud of our country.” This pride extends to all corners of Africa, reminding us that together, we can achieve greatness.

Helen Keller once noted, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” This is the essence of our mission as Pan-African advocates. By standing together, we uplift not only ourselves but also our communities, fostering understanding and collaboration across cultures.

As we reflect on the significance of Africa Day, let us continue to champion the ideals of unity and empowerment. Together, we are a mighty force, paving the way for future generations and ensuring that our voices resonate far and wide.

Happy Africa Day! Let’s honor our roots and boldly march forward, united in our vision for a prosperous Africa.
