Happy Holidays and best wishes for the New Year from the ACO Team! 🎉

Please review the information below regarding ACO operations during the holiday period.

Operating Hours:
- Please refer to the attached schedule for our holiday opening times.

- While ACO will remain open during these periods, please note that we will be operating with a skeleton crew and limited staffing.

High-Priority Requests:
- All high-priority requests should be sent to, or cc’d on, [email protected].

Exports:
- Export requests and monitoring services will be closed during National Public Holidays.

- Export applications must be submitted by 14:00 AEST on 24 December to be processed, prior to closure.

- Export applications must be submitted by 14:00 AEST on 31 December to be processed, prior to closure.

- Applications submitted after these cut-off times will not be processed on public holidays.

Time Zones:
- All times listed above are AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) / UTC +10.

Just in time for Food Safety week! 🍎🍏

The Fresh Produce Safety Centre Australia & New Zealand (FPSC) – an independent, industry-led organization dedicated to enhancing fresh produce food safety across our region – has released the updated Fundamental Guidelines for Fresh Produce Food Safety (Version 5).

These Fundamental Guidelines provide practical, HACCP-based insights to help manage food safety risks across production, harvest and post-harvest handling. Also available are the Quick Guides for Fresh Produce Food Safety– practical, easy-to-use summaries designed to support growers and team members in applying key principles day to day.

🤝 Exciting news for Australia’s organic producers! The Australian Government has signed a Mutual Recognition Arrangement with India’s Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), opening new doors for improved organic trade between our two nations.

This agreement means Australian producers now have better access for export certified organic:

✅ unprocessed plant products (excluding seaweed, aquatic plants, and greenhouse crops)

✅ processed foods made from plant-based ingredients

✅ organic wine.

These products can be marketed in India as organic, via certification to Australia’s National Standard for Organic and Biodynamic Produce.

Why it matters:

🌾 more opportunities for Aussie organic producers

📈 strengthen economic ties between the Australian and Indian economies, thereby facilitating jobs, investment and growth

This milestone builds on the commitment made under the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) and strengthens our economic ties with India.
