Behind every great event are even greater people. A huge thank you to our (over 100!) incredible volunteers, landowners, Rotary members and sponsors who make the Blackwood Marathon Relay possible year after year.

From early morning set ups to late night pack downs, from course prep to safety checks - your dedication, teamwork and generosity keep this iconic event alive. This event takes months of planning, countless meetings and long hours - all given voluntarily. It simply wouldn’t happen without their hard work and dedication!

Please join us in thanking the amazing people behind the scenes who made the 2025 Blackwood Marathon Relay one to remember! We were a little too busy running the event to capture many photos of our volunteers - so if you have any, we’d love to see them! Tag or send them through to share the appreciation.

The final leg of the Blackwood Marathon was a scenic ride that tested endurance, strength and focus. Starting on a short gravel section, cyclists powered onto bitumen roads winding through rolling countryside - with plenty of steep climbs and fast descents to keep them on their toes.

Fastest Cyclist: Jaco Nel (Team 63 – Safety Brakes Revisited) with an amazing time of 00:32:20.

The final stretch led competitors back onto gravel as they approached the Bridgetown Sports Ground, where cheering crowds and teammates awaited to celebrate the finish of one of WA’s most unique multi-discipline events.

Share your cycling highlights - the climbs, the views and that finish line feeling! Tag and use so we can feature your photos and stories.

After the swim leg, competitors who had a horse in the race handed over to their equestrian teammates - ready to take on the next challenge!

Through open paddocks and winding country tracks alongside the Blackwood River, our riders and horses were all heart.

Fastest Equestrian: Tristan Bliss (Team 29 – West Bridgetown Warriors – Above 26) clocking 00:29:02. An incredible ride showcasing skill, endurance and the special connection between horse and rider.

A huge thank you to our amazing landholders and farmers who make this leg possible each year by opening up their private properties - your generosity keeps the spirit of the Marathon alive.

Share your favourite moments from the equestrian leg — tag and use so we can feature your photos and stories!

After the lunch break, the relay kicked back into action with the swim leg - fast, full of adrenaline and (thankfully) not as cold as previous years!

Fastest Swimmer: Travis Nederpel (Team 63 – Safety Brakes Revisited) with a time of 00:10:21. A phenomenal effort through the Blackwood River’s 1 km stretch - well done, Travis!

Drop your favourite swim shots in the comments or tag us in your posts - we’d love to feature your river moments!

Midday fuel stop at Jayes Bridge! After the run and paddle, competitors took a well earned break with their support crew at Jayes Bridge to refuel and recharge before heading into the afternoon legs.

The atmosphere was buzzing, thanks to some incredible local favourites:
- CWA Greenbushes Belles: serving up epic burgers, rolls and their famous homemade cakes
- Earlybirdie Coffee Van: keeping everyone fuelled with great coffee and delicious food
- Mr Soft ’n’ Scoop Ice-cream Van: a hit with kids and adults alike!

Whether cheering from the bank or waiting for their team’s handover, Jayes Bridge was the perfect pit stop to keep spirits (and energy levels) high.

📸 We loved seeing your photos from the break - keep tagging and using to share your race-day memories!

From the trails to the water! The second leg of the Marathon saw competitors hand over to the canoeists, who took to the mighty Blackwood River - serene in stretches, but challenging in others.

Fastest Canoeist: David Worthy (Team 38 – ERGT Super Vets) with a time of 00:33:27.

A stellar paddle and a great representation of the endurance and teamwork that makes this event so unique.

Share your river moments and tag us - we’d love to relive the action through your lens!

The 2025 Blackwood Marathon Relay kicked off in style with an impressive run leg!

The event was officially started by Bev and Steve Holdsworth, in honour of Noel Holdsworth - a long serving Rotary Club member whose tireless work and community spirit helped shape the Blackwood Marathon into the incredible event it is today.

Fastest Runner: Stuart Caulfield (Team 63 – Safety Brakes Revisited) with a time of 00:43:39. An incredible effort to set the pace for the day. Well done, Stuart!
