Full Circle Resource Hub | Resource #3

At Full Circle HR, we’ve built our brand on being confident advisors in industrial relations. It’s the space most small businesses lose sleep over – awards, pay rates, contracts, and Fair Work claims like unfair dismissal.

And right now, we’re seeing more uncertainty than ever.

Your brain is full. The environment is demanding. And trying to stay on top of workplace obligations can feel overwhelming.

That’s where a lot of our work comes in through our consultant support and fee-for-service work.

But if you’re worried about your compliance and not in a position to engage support just yet, there are some genuinely strong, free resources available.

Resource #3: Fair Work Ombudsman (Small Business)
www.smallbusiness.fairwork.gov.au/help-for-small-business

This is one of the most practical and underutilised resources available.

It includes:

• A free online learning centre where you can build your knowledge and work through your obligations step by step
• Free checklists and self-audit tools, including underpayment checks
• Templates and guidance across awards, pay, contracts, leave and performance
• A dedicated Small Business Helpline (13 13 94), available Monday to Friday, 8am to 5:30pm, providing tailored advice on pay, conditions, leave and ending employment
• A free Employer Advisory Service, providing tailored written advice for specific questions

The helpline and advisory service are designed for guidance, not legal advice or complex matters like bullying or unlawful termination – but for one or two key questions, they can be incredibly useful.

The Fair Work Commission a separate body, also offers an online learning centre with additional resources and training to help build your understanding further.

This is one of those areas where guessing isn’t worth the risk.

If you’re unsure about pay, conditions, contracts or recent changes like the right to disconnect, take the time to check, learn, or ask.

It will almost always save you time, stress and cost later.

And when you’re ready for support applying any of this in your business, or would like to engage us as your consultants, you can contact our team at [email protected] for a free, no-obligation consultation. We’ll provide upfront quoting and work with you to find an approach that fits your budget and capacity.

We also regularly partner with HR Legal where employment law support is required, and they share practical videos and insights on their LinkedIn that are well worth following.

The State Government’s neighbourhood house funding program was designed to cover the cost of a manager and operational costs. The funding has not kept up with inflation, and now fails to cover the cost of employing a manager for the mandatory opening hours, let alone the additional costs.

92% of these funded positions are filled by women, who are now under extreme pressure to cut corners or volunteer their time in the workplace. They are doing unpaid labour to cover the lack of funding for this essential community service.

It's time to fix this - restore Neighbourhood House funding and KEEP OUR DOORS OPEN!
