A Brave Life is a Queensland based charity with a vision to see all vulnerable babies and their families have adequate resources and support available to them during the perinatal period. We support newborns and their families, impacted by;

• Natural disaster
• DV
• Homelessness
• Rural and remote
• Trauma
• Perinatal mental health
• Discrimination (First nations, teenage pregnancy, LGBTQI+, CALD)
• Economic Crisis

In August, we were able to support 768 mothers and their newborns that are often facing hardship such as homelessness, domestic violence, financial hardship, and perinatal mental health issues.

We gifted 381 Nappy Bags across Queensland 🤩

Young mothers often experience challenges during the transition to motherhood, including social isolation, financial insecurity, interrupted education or employment and stigmatisation from others. Due to financial constraints, fear of judgement, and lack of trust in healthcare services, effectively delivering support to young and vulnerable mothers remains challenging.

Parenting and psychosocial programs for vulnerable mothers have shown promise in terms of supporting maternal wellbeing, parenting confidence, social connection, and child development.

Research highlights further need for programs that are more holistic, strengths-based, and tailored to the needs, values, and expectations of young mothers. For young parents specifically, there is a critical lack of evidence showing the impact of psychosocial interventions.
