Meals on Wheels Queensland

Meals on Wheels Queensland Seasoned with Care. Meals on Wheels has had a place in the hearts and homes of Australians for more than 70 years.

For 70 years, Meals on Wheels has been part of Queensland communities, delivering meals, care, and connection to support independence at home. Helping frail older people and younger people with a disability and their carers stay in their homes where most are happiest, is at the heart of what we do. Meals on Wheels provides meals to suit a client's personal requirements and can accommodate special

dietary needs and taste preferences. Everyday a friendly smile, a chat, a nutritious meal and knowing someone will drop by to say hello, changes the lives of many Australians and it's not just the clients who value this contact. Ask any of the 7,000 Queensland volunteers and they will tell you reaching out and making a difference in somebody else's day, makes theirs. Volunteers fill many roles from being drivers, delivering meals into people's homes, assisting in community kitchens or in transportation of clients to a community centre to enjoy a meal along with other social activities. Others may be able to provide office skills helping set up databases, writing newsletters, or preparing promotional flyers for events. No matter what an individual can offer, every bit of help adds to a happier and healthier community. While many retirees are active in our formidable volunteer family - and 'family' is what it becomes - the face of volunteering is as diverse as our clients. We have teenagers keen to do something for others, families who enjoy the focus of sharing a meaningful activity together, and business people who realise there is life outside the office. Chatting about local issues or discussing the latest book release may not be part of a volunteer's job description, but for a client that has very few visitors, it means a lot.

Big Milestone. Bigger Smiles. Huge Thank You!

Our Senior Area Manager, Rachael, and Sector Support Officer, Jasmine, recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting our dedicated volunteers in Biloela to celebrate a truly incredible milestone, 40 years of Meals on Wheels service in the local community! 🎉

Our volunteers truly are the heart of everything we do, working tirelessly to ensure our clients are well-fed, cared for, and supported every day.

☕🍰 To mark the massive occasion, the team wrapped up the celebrations the best way they know how: with great coffee, delicious cake, and the biggest grins in Biloela.

Thank you to our amazing Biloela team for your unwavering dedication. Here’s to 40 wonderful years, and many more to come!

True community spirit is when a partnership goes far beyond a handshake. 🤝

We are absolutely loving this beautiful snapshot out of Rockhampton! The local team recently caught up for breakfast with the wonderful crew at the Rotary Club of Rockhampton Sunrise Inc., who presented them with an incredibly generous donation to support the service.

But the best part? The connection goes so much deeper than a breakfast meeting. Several of the fantastic Rotary members pictured are actually part of the team in more ways than one. Not only do they support the service through their club, but they also regularly hit the road as volunteers, delivering fresh meals and warm smiles right to local doors.

It’s exactly this kind of local heart and team effort that keeps the wheels turning! 💛

We love seeing Queensland communities look out for each other! ✨

Over the weekend, Meals on Wheels Fraser Community headed down to the Seafront Oval to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Community Bank Hervey Bay Showcase. A major highlight of the celebrations was the official presentation of an incredible $50,000 grant to the Fraser Community Service.

We are incredibly grateful for this level of corporate support. Upgrading delivery vehicles is a huge financial undertaking for our individual services, and this grant ensures Fraser Community can keep delivering nourishment and connection safely and reliably. 🚗

💙 We are endlessly grateful to Community Bank Hervey Bay for their incredible generosity and dedication to supporting the community.

Our regional teams are always finding wonderful ways to stay connected, and the Meals on Wheels Fraser Community crew have been absolutely hitting the pavement lately!

From setting up shop at the Hervey Bay Community Showcase at Seafront Oval, to hanging out with the lovely Pauline at the Maryborough Heritage Markets, they are doing heaps to make sure the Fraser Coast knows we are here to support them.

Out into the community, spreading the word on how to access our services, and finding kind-hearted volunteers to join the family, that is what it’s all about. 💛

Keep up to date with your local service and see how to get involved or clear up any questions!

⚡ They say these socks have superpowers... and honestly, seeing the incredible work our volunteers do every day, we completely agree!

This is what an everyday hero looks like. No capes, no costumes, just a dedicated local volunteer, a reliable car, a great pair of socks, and a commitment to keeping our community nourished and connected.

When our drivers hit the road, they aren’t just dropping off a nutritious meal. They are delivering a vital wellness check, a friendly conversation, and a warm smile to someone’s day. That is the ordinary routine that creates an extraordinary impact across Queensland. 🚙

Whether you volunteer with us, another organisation, or just want to celebrate the legends in your life, pull your favourite socks on, snap a selfie, and use the hashtags below to join the movement!

✨ Forty-five years of showing up for the community with love, care, and a warm smile.

A massive, heartfelt congratulations to the incredible team at Redbank Meals on Wheels on reaching this beautiful 45-year milestone!

For four and a half decades, this service has been so much more than just a meal delivery; it has been a comforting presence, a friendly chat at the door, and a vital lifeline for the Redbank community. This milestone is a true testament to the big-hearted volunteers and dedicated staff who pour their energy into caring for others, week after week, year after year. 🩵

We also want to send a special shoutout to the Redbank Service Coordinator, Kelli, for putting together such a wonderful celebration.

🫶 Thank you to the entire Redbank family, past and present, for 45 years of keeping your community nourished and connected.

There is something incredibly special about a meal that is genuinely made with care, especially when the winter chill sets in. ❄️

Chef Anne from Ashgrove Meals on Wheels has just launched her brand-new Winter menu, and it is a beautiful reminder of the passion that goes into the food served across our Queensland network every single day.

Pictured here is one of her latest creations: a beautifully marinated Creamy Tuscan Chicken, perfectly balanced with vibrant tomatoes, fresh spinach, creamy mashed potatoes, and mixed winter vegetables. It’s not just about comfort; it's about serving up real, fresh, and wholesome nutrition that fuels the body and lifts the spirit.

Behind every menu across Queensland, there are dedicated chefs like Anne who spend hours planning, prepping, and pouring love into every single plate. They don't just cook, they care. 💚

It’s just five letters. A casual, effortless greeting whispered across verandas and spoken through screen doors every single day.

But for Trish, that simple “G’day” carries the weight of an entire community showing up.

It’s a greeting that instantly levels the room, bridges the gaps between generations, and lets Trish know she is exactly where she belongs, connected to the neighbourhood around her.

A lifetime of showing up. Seventy years of care. This is Seasoned with Care.
