Epo Nbe - taught to us by the brilliant , our visiting MD for September

One of the joys of Bradford Friendship Choir is sharing songs, languages and stories from around the world. ‘Epo Nbę’ is a traditional Yoruba song from Nigeria that celebrates abundance, beauty and the joy of having enough food so that you can have TWINS!

What song would you like to share with us?

In June Temi came to support the choir while Furaha took some time off for her busy time around Refugee Week. Temi understood what the choir was about straight away, and brought fresh energy to our songs with his brilliant musicianship. Thanks for everything, Temi - we hope you’ll come back and work with us soon!

Every time we get a chance to perform, we love singing 'Home' a song that was written by for back in 2024 but has now slowly become our anthem. This is a clip of us performing it at the We Will Sing exhibition at back in November 2025. Furaha has recently released this song on all streaming platforms so go check it out (Artist name: Furaha Mussanzi, song: Home)

Lyrics:

This is my home
I belong, I feel safe here
You are my peace
My hiding place and my refuge

Chorus:
Where else can I go
Where I am loved, no longer judged
Where else can I go
Where I am cherished, no longer turned away

You are my home and my hope
The futures bright

We are throwing it back to our performed at the 'We will singing exhibition in back in November. What a timely song to sing in these troubled times, a reminder that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. See the lyrics below and sing along with us.

'We got all the love
All that we need
To change the world
Hallelujah
We got all the love
All that we need
Blessed be, mhh mhh'

We have been loving learning this beautiful song by the talented titled 'Nguya na ngai' which means 'my power' in Lingala, one of 450 languages in DR Congo 🇨🇩

The words are so powerful, here is the translation:
Bolingo na ngai, eza na s**a te
(My love has no end)
Esengo na nangai, eza na s**a te
(My joy has no end)
