Looking for something different to do on a weeknight? 🤔

Skip the endless Netflix scrolling and come experience a night of inspiring speeches, laughter, and genuine connection at our Toastmasters meeting! 🎤✨

Our last meeting was full of energy — with inspiring speakers, thought-provoking topics, and even a fun “beach day” speech from one of our special guests. 🏖️ There were plenty of laughs and great conversations throughout the evening.

Whether you want to build confidence, improve your speaking skills, or simply meet friendly people in the community, you are warmly welcome to join us.

This Thursday, we embraced the vibrant theme “Turning Toastmaster into Pink” – a celebration not only of color but also of strength, awareness, and community.

🎤 Christine’s Speech:
Christine took center stage with a heartfelt and insightful speech reflecting on her recent experience organising the Toastmasters District Conference. She shared the triumphs, the challenges, and the invaluable lessons learned—a perfect example of how Toastmasters cultivates leadership through real-world experience.

💬 Table Topics:
Our impromptu speaking session sparked deep thinking with this thought-provoking question:
"If you could choose a color to represent you, what would it be and why?"
Members shared colorful stories, creative analogies, and meaningful reflections that brought out both laughter and inspiration.

🎉 Honoring Christine – 30 Years of Dedication:
We were truly honored to celebrate Christine’s incredible 30-year journey with Toastmasters. As one of our most experienced and respected members, her contributions—especially in supporting and growing Toastmasters clubs across Papua New Guinea (PNG)—have left a lasting legacy. Her passion, mentorship, and commitment continue to inspire us all.

💗 A big thank you to everyone who helped us turn this meeting pink in spirit and color. Here's to more empowering meetings and meaningful connections!

On 1 October 2025, the Scenic Rim Toastmasters Club proudly hosted our annual Speech Contest, celebrating excellence in public speaking across four exciting categories:

Table Topics Contest – where participants were challenged to speak impromptu for up to two minutes. The topic, “What are your life lessons?”, inspired three speakers to share heartfelt and thought-provoking insights from their personal journeys.

Evaluation Contest – where participants demonstrated their listening and analytical skills by delivering insightful and constructive feedback on a test speech. Each of the three evaluations offered thoughtful commentary and practical suggestions.

International Speech Contest – a showcase of original, inspirational speeches designed to uplift and motivate. The three speeches delivered were powerful, authentic, and deeply moving.

Humorous Speech Contest – where the power of laughter took centre stage. The funniest speech of the afternoon had the audience thoroughly entertained and proved that humour is a powerful tool in communication.

Congratulations to all our contestants for their courage, creativity, and commitment to excellence. A special congratulations to our winners, who will go on to represent Scenic Rim Toastmasters at the Area 24 Contest on 1 November 2025.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all members, guests, judges, and volunteers who contributed their time and energy to make this event a resounding success.

On Wednesday, some of our Scenic Rim Toastmasters club members volunteered to support Jimboomba Toastmasters with their club contest.

It was such an amazing night—listening to 4 inspiring Evaluation speeches and 3 powerful International speeches. We learned so much and had plenty of fun along the way too.

Thank you, Jimboomba Toastmasters, for welcoming us and letting us be part of your special evening!

Joseph delivered his Ice Breaker speech, courageously sharing his journey and what brought him to Toastmasters.

Eily presented her 3rd speech on setting boundaries—with a creative twist using a hula hoop! Her message was as powerful as it was unique. 💪🎯

Chrissy completed her final Level 5 speech on Thursday, 7th August—an incredible milestone. Congratulations on achieving this major goal! 🎉

Behind every great speech is a supportive audience, and ours continues to show up with encouragement, energy, and a commitment to growth.
