MiiMi Aboriginal Corporation

MiiMi Aboriginal Corporation MiiMi is an information Hub for the Bowraville Community. The centre offers a range of services to meet identified community needs. MiiMi incorporated in 1993.

Aunty Ruth Walker established MiiMi Mothers in the late 1980's when she
realised there was no support or help for Aboriginal women and families in Bowraville. Aunty Ruth and her sister Florence Ballangarry with foresight, passion and energy joined forces and encouraged the community to realise their dream of developing
programs and bringing services into the community for women and their familie

s. Funding has enabled the development of the MiiMi House from which MiiMi manages and delivers projects. The organisation is recognised as an Aboriginal
Corporation and is governed by a board of management. Although MiiMi is an Aboriginal Corporation the Board of Management recognises the need for services for the WHOLE of community and all MiiMi programs are for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal women and their families.
