Pinch & a Punch! Just 3 weeks before this year's ROSE SHOW, hosted by the Highlands Garden Society Bowral at the Uniting Church Hall in Bowral. Details in the next post down, including the Schedule of all the categories of Roses and Floral Art.

Rose Show date? 21st November

It's exactly five years since we were in the middle of Covid. HGSB ran a virtual show, using best practice medical isolation, photography in a garage and no exhibitor or volunteer making contact except by isolated table transfer. No one got sick and we ran one of the very few flower shows, not only in Australia, but it turns out, worldwide. It was all presented, including judges comments, by Zoom, with nearly 100 members online. And what great exhibits there were. All run by our much missed late President Jane Stockel.

So with three weeks to go, get weaving and getting your exhibits ready, to make it another great show for exhibitors and visitors alike. Some varieties already out, others just around the corner. Who will be the star exhibitor in 2025? It could be you.

For the keen ones amongst you, here's the SCHEDULE for the HGSB Rose Show 2025, on November 21st. Remember it takes about 7 weeks to optimise your roses from their last major tidy up and then pray that there's not too much rain and too little sun! No matter what it's YOUR exhibits we want to make it a truly great community show.

HGS members, who also love art, may want to attend Art National Bowral's exciting talk on Tuesday 9th, at the Bowral Memorial Hall.
The subject: PAINTING THE MODERN GARDEN: From Monet to Matisse
Presented by Lydia Bauman. It's at 5.00pm to 6.15pm. Doors open 4.45pm.

If you are a member already book in the normal way. Guests too are welcome. Make your booking here:
https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1458886 and on arrival make your $35 guest payment for each attendee. The organisers need to know numbers in advance for catering. A glass of wine and sandwiches are included, after the talk.

"The modern garden, transformed by 19th century innovations such as hybridisation, glasshouses and foreign exploration, was part of a great social change to which artists responded from the 1860s onwards. This talk traces the appearance of the garden as a modern phenomenon and the development of new art movements adopting it as their subject."
Many HGS members attended Trisha Dixon's wonderful talk on Edna Walling garden design in February. We thought you'd want to know about this one too.
