Every young person deserves someone in their corner. 💙

We were thrilled to join the Raise Foundation celebrations at Bowral High School and Moss Vale High School, marking an incredible milestone - Raise’s 20,000th mentee supported since the program began in 2008.

Members of our Board were proud to attend the graduation ceremonies and celebrate the achievements of the students, mentors, schools and supporters who make this program so impactful.

Raise connects young people with trusted adult mentors who listen without judgement, encourage confidence, build resilience and remind them they don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

Congratulations to all graduates, mentors and everyone involved in creating a stronger, more connected Southern Highlands community.

The SHCF along with our partners are key funders and supporters of this very important program that has the power to change lives.

The Southern Highlands Education & Apprenticeship Fund (SHEAF) provides financial support for eligible applicants aged between 16-25 who are pursuing tertiary or vocational qualifications.

SHEAF is about backing our young people and helping remove the barriers that can stand between ambition and opportunity.

We’re thrilled to see the work of our incredibly talented Creative Pathways Scholarship winner, James Matthews, on display at Bowral Art Gallery until September 27.

James’ portrait of his mentor, respected local artist Martial Cosyn, captures the energy, warmth and lively spirit that James admires in Martial’s work.

James is currently developing a body of work for his first solo exhibition, under the mentorship of Martial Cosyn and Clara Adolphs.

Reflecting on the experience, James says:
“It’s been great getting to know Martial this year. He’s a terrific artist and a great friend to me. His work is full of energy and fun, and my portrait of him attempts to depict his fun and lively spirit.”

We’re so proud to support James as he develops his practice and takes these exciting next steps as an emerging artist. See James’ portrait of Martial at Bowral Art Gallery until September 27.

Looking back at Peter Titmus.

Peter is a volunteer at the Bradman Foundation, working behind the scenes to renovate, repair and transform many aspects of the Museum and Oval Precinct. His incredible contribution and dedication was recognised in 2024.

In the lead up to R U OK? Day this month, Argyle Housing is hosting a Community Connections & Wellbeing Day in Bowral tomorrow (Wednesday September 2nd).

Argyle Housing will be joined by Highland Youth Cafe, Erratic Ally, Carer Gateway, Highlands Community Centre, SSI, Hearing Australia and Refined Moves. With free coffee and snacks, journalling, accessible Tai Chi, hearing checks, games, creative activities there will be plenty of opportunity to connect.
