We are incredibly grateful to Paul Comiskey and the Comiskey Group for their amazing support at our charity auction, taking home our steer with a generous winning bid of $8,000!

The Comiskey Group is a family-owned hospitality and entertainment business based in South East Queensland. Known for iconic venues like Eatons Hill Hotel, Sandstone Point Hotel, The Doonan, and the newly opened Dakabin Hotel, the group is widely recognised for its innovation, community focus, and commitment to creating world-class experiences. We’re all set up and ready to go for this year’s charity steer auction in support of Farm Angels – and you’re invited to come take a look!

Our 350kg purebred Tasmanian Hereford steer is on display in the cattle pavilion and will go under the hammer this Wednesday, August 7, in the Main Arena.

🐮 Spa Day🧼

With the auction just under a week away, look who got a well-earned wash to help him look his best. After a few muddy days in the paddock, he was given a good scrub, rinsed down, and brushed out.
Turns out… he loved the attention — especially the brushing!

Now sparkling clean and looking sharp, he’s just about ready to head to the Ekka, where he’ll be auctioned off in support of Farm Angels. We’re so proud of how he’s come along and can’t wait to see him in the ring next week!

We’re proud to support Farm Angels by auctioning a 350kg purebred Tasmanian Hereford steer at the Ekka on August 6th! Raised on lush pastures and known for its top eating quality.

This initiative wouldn’t be possible without the incredible teamwork from Farmers Choice Meats, Mick's Meat Barn, Colin Say & Co P/L and Nolan Meats Pty Ltd — all pitching in to make a real difference. 💪

Mick's Meat Barn and Farmers Choice Meats are auctioning a Mini Hereford Steer at the Royal Queensland Show, with 100% of proceeds going to Farm Angels, a charity helping Aussie farmers through tough times.

🌱 Registered Hereford Steer Born and raised in NW Tasmania
🚛 Prepped for show by the Stenzel family in QLD
⚖️ Expected to dress ~180kg
📅 Auction: Wednesday, August 6th at the Brisbane Showgrounds
