During periods of severe weather and gale-force winds, emergency services may be unable to respond immediately due to dangerous conditions.

When gale force winds exceeds 80 km/h, it becomes unsafe for crews to be out on the roads.

Residents are urged to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel and only move if it is safe to do so.

Your decisions help protect not only your safety, but also the safety of emergency responders.

Our very own David Redsell was recognised for helping during national disasters with the Rural Fire Brigade in 2019 and 2020 at the Australia Day Achievement Awards Presentation Day πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί
He was presented with a National Emergency medal that he should be very proud of.πŸ…
This is not the first time Dave has put his hand up to go and help fellow Australians when their lives, homes and businesses are threatened by fire, and it probably won't be the last.
Well done Dave, all at Abbot Point Rural Fire Brigade are very proud of your accomplishments! πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ”₯πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

Now that the dust has settled we have had time to crunch some numbers and in 4 days while the fires were at their worst the Roadhouse staff made and delivered 45 sandwiches, 87 burgers, 65 boxes of hot chips, pumped 7 000L of Jet A1 and 1 982L of Avgas and send 27 frozen home cooked meals to those out fighting the fires, as well as still providing most of our regular retail, take away food and freight services.

This is a tremendous effort from our team considering that we had 3 staff away and of the 5 staff that were here 2 had only started a week and a half before everything kicked off.

We would like to thank the community for their patience during the times we had the kitchen closed or couldn't take phone calls because we were doing food for the firefighters. We would also like to acknowledge the 7 individuals who gave cash donations to help provide these meals for the fire fighters in total we were given just under $1000. We are all very proud of how our small communities came together to help each other during this time.
