SES volunteers need to regularly do competency maintenance to ensure our qualifications are current. Today was Flood Boat requal, a beautiful day in north Queensland.

Our group train on Thursday nights from 7pm. Last night training was all about the ATV. If you are considering joining or thinking it may be something you would be interested in, reach out to us. You are welcome to join us for a training session to meet the team.

One of our members, Trish, was fortunate enough to attend the Sate Emergency Service 50th Anniversary Parade in Brisbane. Trish marched alongside volunteers from Central Region and members from all regions of Queensland.

Over the past 50 years, the State Emergency Service (SES) has grown into a vital emergency response organisation, providing essential assistance during natural disasters, search and rescue operations, and community events.

At the heart of the SES is the unwavering spirit of volunteerism. The dedication of our volunteers has saved countless lives and protected property across Queensland. With advancements in technology and equipment, the SES has continually evolved to improve operational effectiveness and ensure the safety of its volunteers.

Some of the team today set up the SES marquees for use at the Bowen Museum open day. It is always nice helping other organisations around town.

Some of our team are at the Volunteer Expo this morning. Pop down, say hello and have a chat about joining the SES. The Expo is being held at the Bowen Markets, Horseshoe Bay Road.

Over the last week we have done our CPR and First Aid requalifications. CPR needs to be refreshed every 12 months and First Aid every 3 years to keep up to date. These courses are necessary for SES volunteers and are part of our course curriculum. We even have a little fun with our group leader 😅. Thank you Kevin and Pauline for facilitating these courses.
