Spring is here, enjoyed by our SistaCare peer support and education groups for women in western NSW. 💙🧡 SistaCare brings women together in a supportive environment to build connections and confidence and grow understanding of healthy and respectful relationships. Our first program sites were Bourke, Condobolin, Forbes, Narromine and Parkes. This year, we have expanded SistaCare to Broken Hill, Cobar, Cowra, Nyngan, Warren and Wilcannia. Our caring and knowledgeable local female team members facilitate the groups, which usually meet every fortnight. All women in the community are welcome to attend.
Peer support activities at SistaCare could include art therapy, journey journalling, vision boards, yarning circles and other recreational activities. Education sessions could be about the topics of domestic and family violence, money skills, women’s health, wellbeing, employment and other topics the group’s members choose as helpful for them to meet their goals.

We attended the Grenfell Voices Against Violence community event on September 30. Our team members hosted an information stall so community members could learn about our programs and services. Our team members were pleased to chat to attendees about the support we provide and engage with the wider community. We were honoured to receive a certificate of appreciation in recognition of our participation and contribution to the day.
Grenfell Voices Against Violence was an important event, providing an opportunity to raise awareness, come together as a community to show care and solidarity, and let people know about support, all contributing to greater safety for everyone.
