A big thank you to Mary Ramsay her informative walking tour of the historic houses of Elizabeth Street.
It was interesting to hear the history of the street, plus some Bothwellians reminiscence about their memories of other locals whom lived on it.
Bothwells original town boundary was Alexander Street.
Elizabeth Street was named after Thomas Burrells daughter.

Bothwell Town Hall.
Completed in 1902, designed by Alan Cameron Walker.
The Town hall has been the focus of many an event. It has been the headquaters of the Bothwell Council, a police station and a Court room. It has been a picture theatre, with patrons trundling down to Swindells store at intermession for treats. Badmitton was also played at the hall. It has a served as a venue for the variety shows, and plays put on by Bothwell locals. More recently it has served as a venue for receptions, birthdays, exercise classes, playgroup, polling booths and CWA events. The Library is also situtated with in the building.
In1902 a panio was purchcased for the hall.
The Honour boards for soliders in the Town Hall were carved by Ellen Norah Payne.
