As we approach World Heart Day, Rotary Port Phillip was proud to welcome Rachel Jayne Cassidy and Dr David to our club meeting for a powerful and informative conversation about heart health.

Rachel, author of In a Heartbeat, shared her personal insights and highlighted the importance of recognising the signs of heart disease and acting quickly.

Together with Dr David, their presentation reminded us that awareness, regular check-ups and knowing the warning signs can make a real difference.

This year’s World Heart Day theme, “Don’t Miss a Beat,” encourages us to:

❤️ Have regular check-ups
❤️ Encourage those you love to do the same

Heart disease can affect anyone, and being informed could help save a life.

Today, we had the privilege of attending a RIMERN’s 5th Birthday and seeing firsthand the incredible impact their team makes in our community.
One statistic that truly stood out: 87% of long-term rough sleepers who are supported by a Launch Housing case manager do not return to the streets.
Behind every number is a person, a story, and a fresh start. A safe home provides more than shelter—it creates stability, dignity, hope, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.
Thank you to the dedicated RIMERN team, volunteers, supporters and partners who work tirelessly to help people rebuild their lives and turn a house into a home.
