And thatโ€™s a wrap on our annual fundraising ride from Kingston to Bordertown, the B2B. We finished the day with a well attended family ride from Mundulla to Bordertown and a bbq and drinks at Virgo park.

Foundation Chairman, Leigh Muster, thanked the riders, supporters, donors and Foundation board for their efforts in making today the success that it was.

Carmel King, Bordertown and District Health Advisory Council Inc Presiding Member congratulated everyone involved.

Special mention to Walt Michelson, 90 years old and an inspiration for making the ride from Mundulla to Bordertown.

Congratulations to raffle winners: Wendy Pilgrim, Jenni Marshall, Daniel (SA Ambulance) and Josh Searle. We thank you for your donation and hope you enjoy your winnings!

Riders are getting prepped for the big ride this Saturday 28th March. Practice rides and briefings all forming part of the lead up to the event.

We are loving our new trailer which will be used to take bikes to Kingston. Thank you to generous sponsors for helping us to purchase and refurbish this trailer. Big thanks to Tatiara Industrial Repairs for sandblasting and painting and to Bordertown Auto Electrical for sorting out the electrics for us. We also thank Bordertown Pharmacy, Westpac, In2Health, Tatiara Medical Centre, Doctors at the Medical Hub for their sponsorship of our trailer.

We will be meeting at 10am at the Bordertown Basketball Stadium car park to load up and get ready to head down to Kingston.

Anyone registered to ride from Mundulla can meet at the oval at 4pm and we will leave soon after. We can organise a lift back to Mundulla afterwards to collect your vehicles.

Looking forward to a big day on Saturday!

Donations can be made at anytime at https://bhcfoubdation.com.au/donations.

Our annual bike ride is coming up quickly If you'd like to be part of the challenge, please sign up!

We are hoping to get a whole crew of people riding in from Mundulla this year. Meet at the Mundulla oval at around 4pm on Saturday the 28th ready to ride at 4:30pm. $25 per family is an affordable way to support the Bordertown Memorial Hospital and a great opportunity to get out on the treadly! Get your friends and family together for a great, local cause. After the ride, relax with a BBQ and a drink on the house at Virgo Park from 5pm.

Sign up here: https://www.trybooking.com/DIYNN

In the meantime, we are going to be at Foodland this Saturday 14th March selling raffle tickets - again, all proceeds to the Foundation which exists solely to support the Bordertown Memorial Hospital.

A community foundation, such as the Bordertown Health and Community Foundation, is a vehicle for community money (donations) to be invested and managed for the benefit of the community. It allows for donated community money to be invested wisely, and the income derived from these investments to be used for projects in the community. The larger the fund, the greater the income available for use in the community. It requires a Board of Trustees, at least 50% of whom are recognised as Responsible Persons by the ATO.

It has a beneficiary - in our case, the Bordertown Memorial Hospital.

What happens to your money when you make a donation to the Bordertown Health & Community Fund?
โœ… Donated funds are invested using the advice and expertise of our investment team (Matthew Rowett & Simon Ballinger under the guidance of Bell Potter's Nigel Stewart).
โœ… Each month the investment team review our portfolio to ensure it is performing appropriately - a mix of conservative and growth investments to ensure capital is not eroded and there is enough liquidity for any funds to be sent across to the hospital as needed.
โœ… At the end of each financial year, 4% of the total value of the Fund is allocated to the Bordertown and District Health Advisory Council Inc (HAC) for spending on appropriate equipment or upgrades via a request to our Board.
โœ… Bi-monthly meetings of the Board are held to review any requests for funds from the HAC. These requests are carefully reviewed to ensure they meet the needs of the community and are not within the scope of SA Health's responsibility.
โœ… Upon our Board's approval, the HAC organises and pays for the equipment or upgrade and provides our Foundation with a receipt. This is reimbursed back to the HAC by our Fund.
โœ… Small plaques are placed on equipment purchased using BHCF funds across the Bordertown Memorial Hospital as recognition of the community's contribution (your donation).

If you'd like to make a donation or a bequest in your will, visit our website for more details: https://www.bhcfoundation.com.au. Or talk to any of our Board members (also listed on our website).

Most importantly, a donation to the Bordertown Health & Community Foundation is a contribution to YOUR community. It stays right here. It ensures our community has the benefit of a hospital and aged care facility; a 24/7 emergency facility; a facility for visiting specialists so that locals do not have to travel to the city for some services; a facility that can look after locals who have had procedures in the city but can come home to the Bordertown Hospital for post-op care; and more...

๐Ÿ‘‰ Our Board consists of local, volunteer community members
๐Ÿ‘‰ Very few running costs (no wages to pay, no marketing budget - we rely on word of mouth)
๐Ÿ‘‰ Our Board members can be approached at any time by community members with ideas for improvements to our hospital and aged care facilities
๐Ÿ‘‰ Funds are invested wisely for growth and for returns (dividends) ensuring the capital value remains in place (or grows) and the Bordertown Memorial Hospital still receives a significant contribution from the Fund each year
๐Ÿ‘‰ Your donation is tax deductible

Our Fund is now worth over $1 MILLION - a huge effort by our community over many years. This means the 4% distribution that we make available to the hospital each year (now nearly $40,000 approximately) is MORE than the amount we have traditionally been able to raise in donations each year.

The more funds that we can add to that investment total, the more money is available as a distribution to the hospital each year. We are committed to continuing to raise money for our Foundation.

We are all leaving a lasting legacy to the Bordertown and districts community.
