We are immensely proud of our member Kerry Owen who delivered an interesting presentation on the weekend on pressure canning. Loretta Ryan from ABC radio skilfully facilitated the discussion. QCWA has long been a champion of sustainability, and pressure canning is another way we can ensure food security. Thank you Kerry!

Sincere thanks to all of our members who volunteered for the Celebration of Lost Culinary Arts yesterday. Our market stall was a huge success, and the pumpkin soup was a big hit. QCWA Boonah Branch members made 70 litres of pumpkin soup, and we sold over 60 litres!

We will be at the Celebration of Lost Culinary Arts tomorrow next to the Kalbar School of the Arts. This is a free event that sits alongside the Winter Harvest Festival. Stop by for some pumpkin soup, cakes, biscuits, preserves, and perhaps a QCWA cookbook or tea towel. We look forward to seeing you!

QCWA Boonah Branch was one of the community organisations acknowledged in the Fassifern Guardian today for supporting Boonah Girl Guides with some building improvements. We have donated a sensor light to improve the safety of the girls and volunteers as they leave the Guide Hut on these darker winter nights.

It was a hive of activity in the Carinity Fassifern Community Centre kitchen today when QCWA Boonah Branch members Julie, Anne, Kerry, Jo-Anne, and Mel got together to cook. More than 120 meals were packaged up and delivered to the Salvation Army! These will be distributed to those experiencing food insecurity. What a wonderful effort from our members! Many thanks to Carinity for allowing us the use of their kitchen at no cost. Our partnership with you is very much appreciated.

Our Branch is committed to supporting the Salvation Army in response to their need for powdered milk, pre-packaged meals, and menstrual products. Boonah Branch member Mel Chandler met with Deb Castles to make the first in a series of donations. We are pleased to contribute to ensuring the dignity of women who are facing difficult circumstances.

Boonah Show is a fabulous community event and Boonah CWA was pleased to encourage the cooking competition in the Baking Section this year. The large number of entries this year in the cooking section provided some tough competition. Congratulations all the entrants and well done to the wonderful bakers who were recognised.

🌟 Happy Queensland Day! 🌟

On 6 June 1859, Queen Victoria signed the Letters Patent that gave birth to our great state - and Queensland hasn't looked back since. Today we celebrate 167 years of the bold, the resilient, and the community-minded people who make this place extraordinary.

At QCWA, we're proud to be part of that story. For over a century, our members have been the quiet backbone of Queensland - running hall committees in tiny outback towns, delivering meals after floods, hosting youth groups in regional centres, and making sure no woman in rural Queensland ever feels alone. That's the Queensland spirit, and it lives in every one of our branches.

Here's to the Sunshine State, and to the incredible women who keep it shining. 🌺
