this is the kind of investment we need to move further towards a renewable future and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels in all forms wherever we can. that also includes a big no to any enormous plastic burning incinerator. we don’t need that kind of dirty energy to power our homes. we are the sunshine state ☀️☀️☀️

The writing is on the wall for coal – a wall that came crashing down today with the demolition of Liddell Power Station in the Hunter Valley.

As Australia's unreliable and polluting coal generators continue to age and shut down, rolling out more renewable power and storage is critical to keeping the lights on and driving power prices down.

In fact, that's exactly what's happening at Liddell. Right next to where the stacks stood, a 500MW grid-scale battery has been commissioned and is due to be fully operational next month.

Today's historic moment underscores the need to rollout out more renewable energy and storage capacity quickly, and to support communities with a transition plan for jobs and economic opportunities.

what a great concept - so much that goes to landfill here would be far better utilised by reuse and recycling industries. do we need to see it to better understand this ??

Japan uses transparent garbage trucks in some cities to gently encourage better waste sorting habits. Because the contents are visible, people can see how waste is collected and whether items are properly separated, creating a subtle sense of accountability.

The idea works without strict enforcement. Instead of heavy monitoring, visibility itself nudges people to be more careful about how they dispose of trash. It also helps raise awareness about recycling practices in a natural, everyday way.

More than a design choice, this approach shows how behavior can be influenced through small visual cues. By making waste visible, Japan promotes cleaner habits while keeping the system simple and effective.

please don’t send your blister packs to landfill. you can drop them into any chemist warehouse store, or if you can’t get there, we’ll take them for you ♻️
