Fassifern Koala Action Group

Fassifern Koala Action Group A collaboration of organisations and individuals in Boonah and District protecting koala habitat.

Members of various local groups (Fassifern Field Naturalists, Boonah and District Landcare Inc, Wildlife Rescue, Scenic Rim Wildlife Preservation Society...) and local individuals make up the Fassifern Koala Action Group (FKAG). This group aims to provide education to local residents to improve data collection and to protect and extend local koala habitat. The group also promotes the wider benefits of habitat protection to our community.

When the sign says to slow down and watch out because koalas are about, they may be closer than you think.

Across the we've been spreading the word about being on the lookout for koalas looking for love during the August to February breeding season.

Local wildlife rescuer Tracey Moffatt recently snapped this photo of a koala next to our variable message sign on Munbilla Road.

With Valentine's Day behind us and koala breeding season drawing to a close, please remember to slow down and watch for wildlife throughout the year.

In February 2022, the Australian Government uplisted the koala to Endangered in Queensland.
