Our Big Kitchen Our Big Kitchen is a community kitchen founded by Rabbi Dovid Slavin and Laya Slavin where people meet regularly to cook healthy, nutritious meals.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the menu selection shopping, preparation, and cooking.

🌍 WHAT IF THE NEXT BIG FOOD INNOVATION IS ALREADY RIGHT IN FRONT OF US?

The World Food Forum 2026 is asking us to think about how we can transform our food systems to nourish tomorrow. But here's a question worth asking today:

Are we doing enough with the food we already have?

At Our Big Kitchen Bondi, we believe suitable surplus food can become an opportunity to do something meaningful. Through food rescue, volunteers and community partnerships, we help transform ingredients into nutritious meals for people who need support. 💛 Because innovation isn't only about inventing something new. Sometimes, it's about finding a better way to use what we already have.

💛 Hunger Doesn’t End Today. And Neither Does Our Mission. 🍲

Every day at Our Big Kitchen, volunteers come together with one purpose: to prepare meals for people who need them.

But behind every meal is a reality we cannot ignore. The demand for food assistance is greater than we can currently meet, and we need more helping hands to reach more people. 🤝

Because food isn't just something we need today. Tomorrow, the need returns.

For someone facing uncertainty, a warm meal can mean one less worry, a moment of comfort, and a reminder that their community cares.

That's why every volunteer matters. Every meal matters. And every helping hand makes a difference. 💛

We loved welcoming the team from Reckon to Our Big Kitchen! Together, 20 team members swapped their laptops for chef’s knives and prepared more than 350 meals for people doing it tough in our community. 👩‍🍳🍲

Through the Craving Community initiative, warm meals are creating opportunities for something just as important: connection.

💙 How far can kindness travel?

Through the Kindness Collective, donated meals, bread, pastries and treats have reached more than 60 drop-off points and teams across Sydney; supporting police, firefighters, ambulance teams, hospital staff and community organisations.

Behind every delivery are moments that show why this work matters: a fresh meal waiting for a tired healthcare worker, familiar faces recognising volunteers, and heartfelt thank-yous along the way.

We’re grateful to be part of this growing community effort, alongside the incredible volunteers and partners helping turn donated food into moments of care and connection. 🙏💙
