A SOUND LIFE

A SOUND LIFE Helping people in need build the resilience to cope with adversity through music, yoga and meditation

A Sound Life helps people in need build the resilience required to cope with adversity and stress. We do this by using music, yoga and meditation to reinstate harmony between their hearts and minds. The most vulnerable people in our communities often have the least access to the tools for transformation, resilience, connection and empowerment. We are committed to changing that and to helping them

confidently surf the waves of life and realise they can experience complete joy within their lives. Since 2014, we’ve serviced over 50 facilities, positively impacting over 30,000 people in our community who need it the most. We have over 350 committed ASL volunteers who have delivered over 2,500 free music, yoga and meditation sessions to date. These numbers are a testament to who we are as an organisation, the culture we have created, our ambition and dedication, what we’ve achieved and the way we serve. Our compassionate and committed team of skilled volunteers include musicians, yoga and meditation teachers. These volunteers deliver regular programs to people in health care facilities such as hospitals and disability centres, while also delivering programs to underserved communities such as youth at risk and women's shelters. We’ve witnessed the joy and resilience our tools can deliver time and time again, which is why we are so sure they can make a difference to all lives and why we're energised to do just that.

A birthday to remember ❤️

When you're in hospital, birthdays can feel very different.

For this special guy at St Vincent's Hospital, celebrating his 44th birthday was made even more special thanks to a surprise music session from A Sound Life.

Moments like these remind us that healing isn't just about medicine; it's about connection, joy and feeling seen. We're so grateful to our incredible musicians, who help create moments of comfort, celebration and hope for patients when they need it most.

Thank you for letting us be part of your special day. 🎶

Some of the most meaningful moments aren't the ones we plan.

They're the moments when someone feels welcomed, when they feel listened to and when they realise they don't have to face something alone.

At A Sound Life, we see every day how music, movement and meditation can create spaces where people reconnect with themselves and with others. Sometimes, healing begins not with having the right words, but with simply knowing someone is there beside you.

Connection has the power to comfort, restore and remind us of our shared humanity. ❤️

Want to use your music to create meaningful moments of connection and wellbeing? ❤️

Join A Sound Life for our Music Volunteer Training… an interactive evening designed to prepare musicians to bring music into hospitals, aged care, disability services and community settings.

You’ll learn how to read the room, choose appropriate songs, adapt your approach and move beyond performing to creating genuine moments of presence and connection.

You don’t need to be a professional musician, but you should be confident performing several complete songs independently.

Ready to use your music for impact?

A special thank you to our incredible Gus for bringing warmth, compassion and music to every session. 🎶

We’re so proud to work alongside partners like Auburn Youth Centre, creating trusted spaces where young people can build confidence, creativity and connection through music.

A new round of our Sound Mentoring Program is now getting underway at Auburn, with recently trained mentors preparing to meet and support a new group of young people.

Through one-on-one music mentoring, young people aged 12 to 25 are matched with musicians who share their interests, from singing and songwriting to instruments, music production and rap.

As Auburn Youth Centre has shared, they have seen young people grow in self-confidence, strengthen their ability to express themselves and experience the joy that comes from making music.

We can’t wait to see what this next group of mentors and mentees create together.

Thank you to Auburn Youth Centre for continuing to welcome A Sound Life and helping us make meaningful music mentoring more accessible to young people.

Want to support Sound Mentoring? Partner with us, volunteer as a mentor or help fund a young person’s place in the program.
