For many women in Israel, reserve duty means doctor’s appointments alone, parenting alone, recovering from birth alone, and carrying the emotional weight of war inside the home.

Through WIZO’s Homefront Heroes programs, women and families of reservists receive emotional support, group spaces, professional guidance, and tools to cope with the ongoing pressure of reserve-family life.

When a reservist is called up, the whole family is affected.

WIZO Ayelet recently enjoyed a delicious morning tea graciously hosted by Susie Danos.

Guest speaker Dr Anne Lewinsky shared valuable insights on the importance of maintaining a nutritionally balanced lifestyle, combined with regular exercise, while still enjoying life’s little indulgences in moderation.

Marian Spiro also spoke about her recent visit to Israel to see family and reflected on the remarkable resilience, positivity and spirit of the Israeli people during such difficult circumstances.

The event also raised much needed funds supporting vital WIZO projects and communities in Israel.

Liat was only a few months old when her father was one of the first casualties of the ground offensive into Gaza. And now that she is experiencing the first of many milestone’s in her life – her first day of kindergarten – her father won’t get to experience this with her.

And while we can’t bring Liat’s dad back, we can make a big difference by sponsoring a child in Israel.
