Did you know, for some people struggling with their mental health, weekends can be one of the hardest times.

When the work week ends, so can the routine, distraction and connection that helps keep someone going. More time alone, loneliness, pressure to have a good time, can all make difficult thoughts feel even heavier.

So this weekend, while you’re catching up with mates, having a beer or enjoying some time off, take a moment to ask:
“How are you really going?”
And if you’re the one doing it tough, please remember you don’t have to carry it alone. Reach out. Talk to someone.

A simple check-in could make all the difference 💙

HOW DO WE GET MEN TALKING! 💙

It’s a question we keep asking ourselves.

How do we get a bloke who is struggling to say, “I’m not okay”?
How do we make asking for help feel easier than suffering in silence?
How do we remind our mates that opening up doesn’t make them weak, it takes incredible strength.

Maybe it starts with a simple conversation.
A “How are you really going?”
A beer with a mate.
A phone call.
A message.
Or simply sitting beside someone and letting them know they don’t have to face things alone.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our mate, Ben Downey.

Ben was a mate of Mitch’s, and a mate to so many throughout the shearing industry. Year after year, he pulled on the singlet and competed at the Mitchell Power Memorial Quick Shear, bringing with him the same larger-than-life character that so many of us will always remember him for.

Ben, your presence was one that could never be missed, and your loss will be felt by so many.
We hope somewhere upstairs, you and Mitch are together again, sharing a cold one and having a good yarn. To Ben’s family, friends and everyone doing it tough right now, our hearts are with you.

Our hearts break for this family 💜💔💜

💔 When A Father Dies By Su***de... The Pain Doesn't End With Him.

This story has absolutely broken my heart. Like so many that are currently happening through out all of Australia.

A beautiful 12-year-old little girl, Alisha Rush, a beloved member of the Southlakes Roosters rugby league club, where her sudden passing has left teammates and local sports clubs heartbroken. She was known not only for her bright smile and kind nature, but also for her exceptional talent on the field, having spent pre-season training with the Under 12s and 14s squads, where coaches and teammates spoke so highly of her dedication and spirit.

A little girl who, according to her family, had been deeply struggling since losing her father to su***de just one year earlier.

They have shared that she missed him terribly and wanted to be with him.

Alisha had been receiving mental health treatment and was days away from further medical support at the time of her death.

Stories like Alisha Rush, and her Father's highlight just how complex both child mental health and male adult mental health truly are — and how urgently both need greater government care, investment, and attention.

This is why I will never stop advocating for male mental health.

When Australia loses a father to su***de, we don't just lose one life.

We leave behind children carrying grief that no child should ever have to carry.

We leave behind birthdays with an empty chair.

School concerts with no Dad in the audience.

First jobs.

Graduations.

Weddings.

Grandchildren he'll never meet.

The trauma of su***de doesn't stop with the person who dies.

It echoes through families. Through children. Through generations.

We often talk about Men as a statistic.

But they are Fathers.

They are Sons.

They are Husbands.

They are Brothers.

And they are loved more than they often realise.

If we truly want to protect our children, then we must also protect the fathers who are silently fighting battles they feel they cannot speak about

While also ensuring children like Alisha Rush receive the mental health support they desperately need.

Saving a father's life may save far more than one life.

Today my heart is with Alisha Rushs Mother, Siblings , Family, Friends ,Community and with every child who has lost a parent to su***de.

Mental Health and Su***de is a tragic epidemics that is sending ripple effects through families and generations 💜

I have just received a call/email regarding a lost set of keys at Glen Eira Victoria.

This is a bit of a long shot but, a set of keys was handed in (possibly house keys & the key & remote to a Toyota) by a passerby at our East Caulfield Pavilion, the keys have a blue tag attached to them with
‘Mitchell Power Memorial Quick Shear’ and the number 327.
