Notice is hereby given that the following persons have been appointed to the designated positions with the Shire of Boddington for the 2026 - 2027 fire season, in accordance with section 38 (1) of the Bush Fires Act 1954.

🏆 Celebrating Our Volunteer Leaders! 🏆

​On Saturday, 25 July, a few of our nominated members attended the Upper Great Southern Region Leaders Forum 2026—a fantastic opportunity to build new leadership skills, network, and share ideas with volunteer leaders from across our region.

​Highlight of the evening was the inaugural Upper Great Southern (UGS) Volunteer Awards, celebrating the outstanding contributions of volunteers across the region.
​We are incredibly proud that four of our members were recognised as finalists, with two taking home top honors!

🚒 COMMUNITY SAFETY & TRAINING UPDATE 🚒
​On July 18th/19th, volunteers from Boddington, Crossman Volunteer Bushfire Brigade- Boddington and neighboring brigades completed specialized external structure firefighting training! 💥🏠
​These upgraded skills help us better protect local homes, property, and structures across our community when every second counts.

A Quick Safety Reminder For Your Household:
​👉 Bushfire Plan: Make sure you and your family have a bushfire plan ready and practiced.
👉 Smoke Alarms: Test and replace your home smoke detector batteries yearly!

On Monday 27 July 2026, testing Australia’s new national warning system AusAlert.

During the national test, an alert will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia, which includes most mobile phones, some smart watches and some tablets. Apple iPads won’t receive AusAlerts.

The test times across Australia are:

🔸Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
🔸New South Wales – 2pm AEST
🔸Queensland – 2pm AEST
🔸Tasmania – 2pm AEST
🔸Victoria – 2pm AEST
🔸Broken Hill, NSW – 1.30pm ACST
🔸South Australia – 1.30pm ACST
🔸Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
🔸Western Australia – 12pm AWST
🔸Christmas Island – 11am CXT.

If your device receives the AusAlert national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds before stopping, even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

This is one sound you definitely can't ignore! 😲📱

Your phone will vibrate, play a loud siren-like sound and light up with the alert.

Goomalling will be the first location in WA to test AusAlert on 19 June at 12pm, followed by a National Test across Australia on 27 July.

So there's no confusion, this alert is not sent through the Emergency WA app or any other emergency app. AusAlert is a new federal government initiative that forms part of Australia's nationally operated emergency alert system, designed to deliver warnings during serious emergencies.

If the trials are successful, states and territories can opt in to using AusAlert from October, depending on local requirements.

A new national emergency warning system called AusAlert is being tested across Western Australia and the rest of the country.
Unlike older systems this system uses cell-broadcast technology to push intrusive alerts to compatible mobile phones.

Upcoming test dates and details include:
WA Local Test (Goomalling): June 19, 2026 at 12:00Pm Nationwide Test: July 27, 2026 Western Australia (WA) 12:00 pm (AWST – UTC+8:00)

What to expect during the test:
Your phone will vibrate and play a loud, siren-like sound. The alert will override your phone's "silent" or "do not disturb" settings. A notification and warning instructions will appear directly on your locked screen. No action is required on your part during the test.
