Leading by example, I emptied my doomsday cupboard this morning...because I can 🙏
It will feed people today and that makes me happy!

The Free Little Pantry Wurtulla is on a wee break and we'll deserved for Wayne to have a rest. He was my inspiration to start ours here in Bli Bli...

This may be part of the reason we are feeling the need - and even more reason for our community to step up 🙏❤️🙏

Pantry update 🧃🫕🥫🥡🫙🍭

There have been 10 people trying to get food from the pantry in the last few hours.

Some of my Castle staff have noticed and scraped bits and pieces together to give them at least one thing where possible.

The need out there is really huge at the moment and donations are flying out faster than they are being donated.

I am unsure how to fix this, because it breaks my heart when they come from wherever they are coming from to finding empty shelves. Whilst we obviously rely on people to do the right thing, the pantry is not able to be monitored in any way that can completely avoid the ones that take more than what they immediately need...but as long as its feeding someone, the give what you CAN take what you NEED mantra is simply where its at....and all of the people we noticed today were truly humble and hungry 💔

The pantry has been going since 2019, and I am telling you our demographic has diversified and grown incredibly since then, now including all humans, families, students, pensioners and as well as the ones who have traditionally needed this help, many of the simply can't make ends meet in this current climate and maybe one item is enough to get through.

It makes me proud that our community supports this project in the way they do. We see a lot of amazing donations coming in even from those that may have needed help themselves last week, last month or over the last few years ....because they get it!

If you have something to give, because you can - pls do!

Remember to ask for the pantry shop and drop bin when you are able to buy a few extras and don't have time to deliver to the pantry itself. The Whites IGA Bli Bli team have been collecting and dropping these items to the pantry for us since we asked for support right at the start of this project.

Its even the dribs and drabs that make a difference to someone 🙏

While I am at it, please remember that due to logistics, space and need. We truly ask you to only donate non perishable edible items, household, or personal hygiene items and pet food. Definitely unopened and hopefully with a reasonable use by date.
Give what you would feel good at consuming if the shoe was on the other foot.

We are not in a position to take bags of bits and pieces, larger items, furniture, books, toys or clothes....give those to other charities that have capacity to sort store and rotate these....please. We understand its well meaning, but we are choosing to focus clearly.

I AM looking for a volunteer or two that wants to take on running our social media and improve admin and a few things we need support with. Also a few local people to help clean and sort - even organise a few to get that done as needed. We are struggling with capacity in our core team. So whilst this is a call out, we are limited in time keep on top of what comes in...so bear with us :)

From everyone involved to everyone involved....we've got this and thank you - for even just reading this far 👍
