Healthwise Seniors Inc Healthwise Seniors is for men and women in the Blacktown area aged 50 & over to keep them connected & socially supported.

It offers activities such as craft, scrabble, & a walking group as well as information sessions and outings.

We had to cancel our walking group last Monday due to the weather, fortunately the weather forecast is good for our next walk on Monday 24th August. We will be meeting outside the cafe at Francis Park at Blacktown Showground at 10 o'clock for a walk around the park followed by a coffee and chat in the cafe. All welcome. PM me if you are not a member and would like to join us.

Tomorrow we will be meeting outside the cafe at Francis Park at 10 o'clock for our weekly walk. Some showers predicted but hopefully they will hold off till later in the day. In spite of the strong winds last week we still walked, so a light shower won't deter us. After the walk we will go back to the cafe to enjoy a coffee and some conversation.

Several times a year we have a speaker come in to give a talk. Tuesday 4th August we will have "Stroke Safe" talk commencing at 10 o'clock. All welcome to attend, no charge. Healthwise Seniors Inc, Suite 106a Campbell St Blacktown.

Monday 3rd August our walking group will be meeting outside Two By Four Cafe at Fairwater at 10 o'clock. We will go for a 45 minute walk then back to the cafe for a coffee/tea and a chat.

Our Walking Group will be meeting near the cafe at Nurragingy Reserve on Monday at 10 o'clock. After a walk around the gardens we will enjoy a coffee and a chat at the cafe.

Last time we were having a walk at Fairwater, we came across a very busy Brush Turkey diligently moving dirt, leaves and debris across the pathway to built a mound for a nest. He was completely undistracted by the pedestrian traffic, just kept on working. Today we found the completed mound. The female lays the eggs in the mound and leaves then to incubate in the heat generated by the mound. Once they hatch they fend for themselves.

In spite of the threat of rain this morning, we managed to complete our walk and returned to the cafe for coffee without getting wet. A bit cold outside but we warmed up in the cafe.
