Throughout her career, Angela has worked to strengthen services and improve outcomes for people experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage. She brings more than 30 years of experience across human services, health and Aged Care to Marist180.

Angela’s commitment to empowering people to reach their full potential, her values-led approach to leadership and her belief in the importance of person-centred services strongly align with Marist180’s mission to create positive change in the lives of the people and communities we serve.

As National Homelessness Week comes to a close, we're asking you to take one final step. ✍️ Sign the A Place to Call Home and the Support to Keep It petition and add your voice to the call for lasting change.

The petition calls on the NSW Government to:
• Increase the supply of social housing so that 1 in 10 homes are affordable homes.
• Increase baseline funding for Specialist Homelessness Services by 50%, so services can meet demand and deliver both preventative interventions and crisis support.

Together, we can make sure the government listens. With strong investment in homes and services, we can make homelessness in NSW rare, brief and non-recurring.

🩷 🩷 🩷 For a young person experiencing homelessness, finding a safe place to stay is just the beginning.

At Marist180, our Specialist Homelessness Services team walks alongside young people as they take steps towards stability, connection and independence.

It often starts with a conversation, a young person feeling heard, understood and supported. Our team takes the time to understand each person’s story and connect them with the care and support they need to move forward.

Behind every young person’s progress is a team committed to creating safe spaces, building trust and helping young people develop confidence, strengthen connections and work towards their goals. From Intake & Referral, House Coordinators and House Managers to our Case Workers and Youth Workers, every role plays a part.

We also work alongside carers, guardians, families and support networks, recognising the important role they play in helping young people build a sense of belonging and move towards a future where they feel safe, supported and connected.

This day celebrates the strength, resilience, cultures and potential of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the role we all play in creating a future where every child feels safe, respected, connected and proud of who they are.

At Marist180, we are privileged to walk alongside Aboriginal children, young people and families. We recognise that strong connections to family, community and culture are fundamental to wellbeing, identity and opportunity, and we remain committed to creating culturally safe and inclusive environments where children and young people can thrive.

Today, we celebrate the children who inspire us with their strength, spirit and hope, and we acknowledge the families, Elders and communities who continue to nurture, guide and preserve the world's oldest living cultures for future generations.

🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Celebration Day

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our NAIDOC Celebration Day last week at Emerton Youth Recreation Centre.

It was a privilege to come together to celebrate the rich cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. From the Welcome to Country to the cultural performances, storytelling, art, community activities and shared conversations, the day was a powerful reminder of the importance of listening, learning and walking together.

We extend our sincere thanks to Aunty Cino, the Elders and the Garabara Dance Group for generously sharing their culture, knowledge and traditions. We also thank the Kinchela Boys Home for sharing their truth and helping us deepen our understanding of Australia's history and the experiences of the Stolen Generations. Your willingness to educate and share these stories is deeply appreciated.

We also thank the Blacktown City Council, community organisations, volunteers, staff and everyone who contributed their time, passion and support to make the day so memorable. Your collective efforts created a welcoming space where people of all ages could connect, celebrate and learn from one another.

As we conclude our celebration of NAIDOC Week, we remain committed to listening, learning and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, strengthening relationships and contributing to communities where everyone is respected, included and has the opportunity to thrive.

A safe place to call home is the foundation for opportunity, wellbeing and belonging.

Marist180 supports Homelessness Nsw initiative because we know that housing stability plays a critical role in enabling young people and families to thrive.

Through our work supporting young people and families, we see the impact that housing insecurity can have on wellbeing, education, relationships, and future opportunities. We also see the positivechange that occurs when people are supported with dignity, compassion, and the right services at the right time.

Addressing homelessness requires more than emergency responses. It requires investment in safe, affordable housing, early intervention and strong partnerships across government, community, and support services.

Local voices. Global conscience. Lasting impact.

The Universal Periodic Review is a mechanism implemented by the United Nations to ensure the constant upholding and improvement of human rights across all member states.

As part of this process, non-government organisations (NGOs) are able to submit factsheets and recommendations to contribute to this review.

Over the past year, 8 students from Year 11 have worked to compile information and create recommendations on behalf of the Marist International Solidarity Foundation (FMS ngot) that focused on human rights issues they feel are the most concerning for the future generation of Australians.

Of these NGOs, a select few have the privilege of compiling a video submission to be played at the Human Rights Council Session in Geneva. Our students were fortunate enough to be selected and Benjamin S was chosen as a representative, speaking on behalf of the group and all young Australians.

Just like Jesus and our Patron, St Marcellin Champagnat, these students were able to stand up for those in our countries whose voices often go unheard. We commend them for their great efforts and congratulate them on their success.

We acknowledge the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proudly celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, whose leadership, knowledge and commitment make a difference every day.
