Affordable food is still available at Ignite Food Store, 254 Luxford Rd Emerton - open five days a week from today.

Crisis support is available through Vinnies who are located behind the store and can provide emergency food vouchers if required.

We know that many members of our community have been disappointed by the closure of Open Pantry and Currawong Kitchen, and want to acknowledge the amazing work done by Chandelle and the team over the past few years.

We confirm that the school canteens at Willmot Primary and Lethbridge Park Primary Schools will continue to operate as usual in 2026 - providing healthy and affordable food to students and the broader school communities. Our wonderful and committed volunteers will also stay with us – continuing to support the local community in a range of ways.

Jesuit Social Services wanted to provide an important update on our social enterprises in Western Sydney. Following a review of this work, we have made the difficult decision to close the Open Pantry and Currawong Kitchen social enterprises which are located at the Rutherglen Community Centre, 24 Anderson Ave, Blackett. This is effective immediately.

We will consolidate our remaining social enterprises at the Ignite Food Store which is located at 254 Luxford Rd, Emerton and which will remain open. We have operated the Ignite Food Store at Emerton since 2008, and have a strong determination to continue to support the community from this location. This includes selling fresh and healthy food at an affordable price, including fruit and vegetables, meat and groceries, and Ignite Opportunity Shop, which provides quality used clothes, toys and general household items.

We understand the impacts that these changes may have on customers, staff and volunteers - and will work to support them over the coming weeks. We will continue to provide services to the community through the Ignite Food Store at Emerton and also at the Willmot Community Hub (8 Carteret Ave, Willmot). We look forward to welcoming you at these locations.
