United Way Australia

United Way Australia United Way brings communities, business, philanthropy, government and social purpose organisations together to ensure every Australian community thrives.

What We Do

We understand local issues through community conversations, correlating data, mapping services and identifying gaps. We mobilise resources, securing the long-term investment of funds, skills and networks to tackle complex social issues. We act in partnership with others to strengthen communities. We influence systems change by sharing learning, advocating and scaling community impact locally, nationally and internationally.

We just hit 2,000,000 books delivered to Australian kids! 😭We now have over 55,000 children who receive a perfectly curated, age appropriate book in the mail every month for the first 5 years of their life. All for free! ❤️ Huge love and thanks to United Way Australia and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Australia for their tireless work and to Tamworth Country Music Festival and council for helping us kick it off! Can’t stop, won’t stop until this program is available nationwide for all Aussie kids. ❤️ J&M

As we approach the end of 2024, we wish all our United Way Australia community a safe and relaxing Christmas break. 🎄

We thank all our partners, volunteers, schools and businesses who have supported us throughout the year and who have helped create a brighter future for our children. Supporting children in early childhood literacy is a vital gift to providing them with a head start in life.

A huge shoutout to Costco Wholesale Australia for their incredible 2024 Workplace Giving Campaign!

Throughout October, 15 warehouses and 2 offices across Australia hosted morning teas with representatives from 15 of their charity partners, including ourselves at UWA. 🙌

It was a fantastic opportunity for Costco staff to learn more about the impactful work we all do. A massive thank you to the generous employees for their donations and to Costco for matching every contribution. 💙

And let’s not forget the delicious ‘Costco’ cakes that were a big hit! 🎂

How are you getting involved in National Shared Reading Week? 📚

Running from 28 October - 3 November, it’s the perfect opportunity to talk about your favourite books and share them with others.

At UWA we know how impactful a book can be to build brighter futures, but shared reading can also create stronger communities and connections!

Statistician & Senior Impact Analyst at United Way Australia, and Patron of National Shared Reading Week, Claire Galea, shared the impact this can have on early years children by sharing, “Shared book reading can ignite a child’s love of books and stories as well as enhance their early language and literacy skills, setting them on a trajectory to become successful readers!” 📖💬

So this week, let’s get involved in shared reading and build a brighter future through books💙
