Roy Emerson Museum - Blackbutt Tourism & Heritage Qld

Roy Emerson Museum - Blackbutt Tourism & Heritage Qld BDTHA manages the Roy Emerson Museum located in the town of Blackbutt, QLD. Only becoming established in 2011 it is a work in progress.

The museum features an array of exhibits about the local area, and also pays homage to Australian tennis player, Roy Emerson, who grew up in the town of Blackbutt. The Museum known as Nukku Nook is situated at the head of the Rail Trail in Blackbutt in the South Burnett region of Queensland. The vision to display the innumerable stories and old photos from the surrounding districts of Benarkin, Bl

ackbutt, Taromeo, Nukku, Gilla and Googa from the year 1842 forward is surely coming to fruition. Many of the older generation have been instrumental in sharing their memories with both oral history and family photos. A documentary can be seen via the website showing the reconstruction of the Taromeo Cemetery after the devastating floods of 2012. A number of the history group assisted with this project.

BDTHA members are very excited to have received the donation of a locally owned dray from Christie McCleod. Christie acquired it from Kevin Williams “Arcadia” Benarkin many years ago and lovingly restored it.
It has now been rejoined at the First Settlers Park Benarkin along with the other wagons already stored there.
A wonderful donation Christie. Thank you.
