The 2026 Lions District 201Q4 Convention is heading to Rockhampton, 23–25 October 2026 and registrations are now open!

Hosted by the Rockhampton Fitzroy River Lions Club, it’s shaping up to be a great weekend of Lions, friendship, fun and a bit of country hospitality.

👖 Friday Welcome: Registrations from 12–4pm at Gracemere Community Centre. Dress theme: Denim & Lace

✨ Saturday Night: DG Gala Dinner at Frenchville Sports Club

🌹 Sunday: Remembrance Ceremony honouring Lions who have passed

🎂 Plus the Annual Lions Christmas Cake Decorating Competition – Country Theme!

Today the Blackbutt Benarkin Community Gardens were officially opened by Coucillor Linda Little. Others who attended was the Mayor Kathy Duff, Cr.Jane Erkens, Parks Team Dallas and Matt, Lions President Damon Bishop and other Lions members, Skill centre crew, Dave from Blackbutt Hardware and members of the community.

Community Supporting Community meals is this Wednesday night. I big thank you to Main Street Realty Blackbutt for sponsoring the night and to for donating the potatoes we will be using for our loaded spuds, with a side of coleslaw.

Sunday the 24th of August the Seventh Day Adventist ladies are back with their cooking club. From all reports we've heard the 1st one was amazing. 10am at the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club

As the community gardens are getting close to being finished we need to get a committee together to help to stay on top of it all. If you are interested in being involved or even wanting to claim one of the gardens bed come on down to our first Community gardens meeting.

Come on down on Saturday to tbe expo to find out what the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club is about and how we are involved in our community. We will also be firing up the barbie with our amazing hamburgers 🍔 and sausage sizzle. And drinks for sale. Hope to see you there.

For the garden enthusiast come on down to the Community gardens today at 9am. Join in in getting some more planting done and some jobs to get the gardens ready for the community to use. 9am Community gardens next to the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club and council depot.
