Thanks to Katie, Jake & Jodie from BEMe who delivered some balls out to the beautiful community of Docker River. These desert kids were pumped to be given balls and were perfect to use on their undercover basketball court in the 42 degree heat! Great to be able to connect people all over Australia, especially those in the most remote communities. 🇦🇺

The original Aboriginal name for the place 670km west south west of Alice Springs, near the West Australian border was Kaltukatjara and it is still used locally today.

Following the relocation of Pitjantjatjara people from the region to Areyonga in the 1920s, some returned to their traditional homelands in the late 1960s and along with others from the community of Warburton, established the community of Docker River.

Today the community of Docker River has a population of approximately 300 residents.

Bringing the Magic to Imanpa Community!

This summer holidays, thanks to the incredible support from the Have a Ball Foundation, we’ve brought a bundle of brand balls straight to Imanpa Community.

There’s nothing quite like watching kids on the community basketball court light up with joy as they pass, shoot , and share in the excitement. These balls might look simple, but they radiate the magic of Christmas—the thrill of new experiences, the joy of connection, and the gift of play.

But this is so much more than just bringing sports equipment. Each ball is a bridge between communities, linking the families and sports clubs of our urban centres with the heart of remote Australia. It’s a symbol that says, “We’re in this together.” Through these gifts, urban people and families are supporting play in Imanpa, creating connections that stretch far beyond city limits.

The Have a Ball Foundation is helping us share more than just movement —it’s helping us share hope, friendship, and the true spirit of the holidays.

Thank you for making it possible to spread the magic! Here’s to more smiles, more games, and more unforgettable moments in Imanpa and beyond.

We couldn’t do what we do without amazing people like you to help. I hope the kids enjoy getting out and having fun and keeping fit with their friends with the equipment.
