Please note - The Feb comp has been postponed to next Sunday 15th. The paddle out for Kerry will take place this morning as planned at 9am at south end of Diamond Beach. See you there!

Over the break, our community lost a true legend of Australian surfing and a recent member of our club, Kerry Purdon – known to many as Purdo.
Purdo was a pioneer on the Central Coast, founding the original Ocean Beach Surfing
Association (now the Ocean Beach Malibu Club) back in 1962. He was an incredibly
talented surfer who competed and won at national and state levels in the 1960s, and he continued riding and contributing to the scene for decades. More recently, he brought his experience and good nature to our club, and we were so fortunate to have him with us.
It’s hard to lose someone who lived the surfing life so fully and gave so much to the community. The lineup won’t feel the same without him. But Kerry would often sign off with a warm “Good onya mate” – a simple encouragement that stuck with you.
This Sunday at South Diamond 8th Feb we’ll hold a paddle-out at 9am (whether the comp runs or not) to remember him properly. We’ll form a circle, share a few stories, and celebrate a life well lived, waves well ridden, and mates well made.
Let’s make it a positive send-off, just as he’d want. Everyone is welcome to come along and take part or witness from the shore.

Join us this Sunday 7am 8th February for our registration & first comp of 2026! We will also be honoring the late Kerry Purdon - a cherished member of our club with a paddle out at the south end of Diamond at 9am. Please join us - all welcome! For more info or to go on the text notifications list please get in touch on 0417 576 747. Please note if the conditions aren’t suitable for a competition we will postpone the comp to the following week but the 9am paddle out for Kerry will still go ahead this Sunday. If you are joining the paddle out please bring a flower 🌺

Well it’s a wrap! Congratulations to our winners of the Men’s and Women’s divisions! Mens: 1st place Jared, 2nd place Tom, 3rd place Huddo. Womens: 1st place Georgie, 2nd place Rachel, 3rd place Halle. Belle of the beach went to Amellia for her unwavering support of Jared 🙂 and the winner of the epic Rod Rose mal members raffle was the lucky Carla!! Thanks so much to ALL of our sponsors including Hallidays sports club and Jungle surf for making the presentation possible. Looking forward to another great year in 2026
