BSSC provides Emergency Financial Relief, Crisis Accommodation and No Interest Loans (NILS).

BSSC offers community support in the following areas: Crisis accommodation for homeless families, share housing for homeless, emergency relief, information and referral, domestic and family violence counselling, DV Court support, and the No Interest Loan Scheme.

Food Relief in the Biloela & Banana Shire Community

With the cost of groceries, rent and everyday living continuing to put pressure on many households, we want to remind our local community that **food relief is available**.

If you or your family are struggling to put food on the table, you don't have to manage it alone.

Banana Shire Support Centre (BSSC)
We can assist eligible community members with food relief and connect you with other local supports that may be able to help.

OzHarvest food support
BSSC receives food through OzHarvest, helping us provide food assistance to people experiencing financial hardship.

Other local community supports
There are also local organisations and community groups who provide food, groceries and other practical assistance.

You don't need to be completely without food to ask for help. **If your budget is stretched and you're having to choose between groceries and other essential expenses, please reach out.**

Our team can talk with you about what's available and help connect you with the right support.

Local support, without judgement.

💙 Thank You to St Joseph's Catholic Church Biloela 💙

Banana Shire Support Centre would like to sincerely thank St Joseph's Catholic Church Biloela for their generous donation of warm winter jackets to support people experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough within our community.

A special thank you also goes to the Order of Malta Queensland, whose kindness and generosity made this wonderful donation possible. Your support will make a real difference to people facing the cold this winter, helping them stay warmer, safer and reminding them that their community cares.

Every jacket donated is more than just warm clothing—it provides comfort, dignity and hope to someone doing it tough.

🌿 Celebrate NAIDOC Week with the Banana Shire Community 🌿

Everyone is welcome to join the Banana Shire Council NAIDOC Week Community Celebration this Friday, 3 July, at the Banana Shire Council Chambers 62 Valentine Plains Road, Biloela.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is also a time to learn, reflect and strengthen our connections as a community.

Last week we said goodbye to Nathan as he finished up with Banana Shire Support Centre.

Nathan has been a valued member of the team and he made a positive difference in the lives of many people throughout the Banana Shire community.

His dedication, compassion, and willingness to support others has been greatly appreciated by clients, staff and the wider community.

We would like to sincerely thank Nathan for all his hard work and commitment during his time with us and wish him every success and happiness for the future.
