A big shout out to Kinetic CQ for making the pride bus possible and the wonderful Demi your volunteer bus driver.

The bus and its passengers are ready to roll and leave Mackay soon. Let the pride festivities begin.

Gladstone's Rainbow on the Reef are once again showing us all how PRIDE is done 💪🏻🏳️‍🌈

Their Pride Fair day on the 30th May is only one of the amazing events they have lined up to celebrate PRIDE this year. From a movie night showing 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' on the 29th, if you aren't done after a day at Pride Fair, there's Balls Out Bingo on the 30th, and even a wind down brunch on the Sunday, all happening across the 29-31st May.

We highly suggest if you are in the area on any of these days to get out and put your support behind them.

It's National volunteer week!

We take this opportunity to recognise the time, skills, and power of our community's volunteers. Our Volunteers are some of the hardest working and highly skilled people in our community. They regularly make sacrifices to be part of local organisations & community groups, provide services, host events, and most importantly create community.

We give a big heartfelt thanks of gratide to our Bilo Rainbow members & Friends of Bilo Rainbow past + present; As well as all those in our community who also do this outstanding work.

On IDAHOBIT Day we acknowledge discrimination, exclusion, and prejudice impact LGBTQIA+ people every day.

We have seen this as recently & publicly as the decision to make healthcare more difficult and even non-existent for young people. These young people everyday are trying to establish their identities often in the face of discrimination, hate & prejudice. Today we celebrate visibility, inclusion, and community by standing together.

Everywhere but especially in remote, regional & rural areas where isolation is far more prevalent seeing a rainbow flag or sticker, businesses noting themselves as welcome spaces, organisations such as ours, and the many support networks creates an inclusive message that we can live in a safe & supportive community. For many this means the difference between feeling accepted & feeling safe to thrive by being exactly who they are, and the many who feel isolated, estranged, and even end their lives by su***de.

At Bilo Rainbow we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive & welcoming community where everyone can be themselves with pride.

We saw this, this past weekend with our inclusion in the Callide Valley Show where we were out and proud showing our community we exist, we see you, and you belong here.

We are so proud of everything Bilo Rainbow has achieved so far. You can see a snippet of some
of these events and achievements at our Callide Valley Show group entry in the Pavilion. We've had the pleasure of working with brilliant people in our committee, as well as those in the community who have supported us and lifted us up. Never forgetting we do this to dispel isolation and create connection in our communities.

Big thank to our team members who worked hard to put together this display and our mailbox entry.

A big thank you also goes to headspace Gladstone who kindly donated their 'Be Free' Wings to us, along with a bunch of resources we have available either on request or at any of our market and event stalls.
