In March 1999, a commitment was made to provide $1 million for the beautification of Bexley Town Centre, contingent on the outcome of the 1999 State election. At that time, The Leader published an article outlining an ambitious—though perhaps impractical—vision for Bexley.

Following the election, the new Member for Kogarah, Cherie Burton, honoured the commitment. After consultation, the funding was allocated to several improvements delivered by the RTA, including: lighting in carparks and the main street, a pedestrian crossing on Forest Road at Oriental Street, pavement improvements to Forest Road. All work was completed in mid 2003.

This is another great initiative from our very supportive Community Bank Bexley. Come along with some coins to donate and stories to share about this horrible disease that at some stage will impact on everyone in our community either directly or indirectly

We'd like to invite our customers and local community to join us at the branch to raise funds in support of the Cancer Council's Australia's Biggest Morning Tea ☕️ 🍰

We will be holding our fundraiser on Thursday the 21st May 2026 from 10am to 12pm.
