Thank you everyone 🤩🤩🤩🤩 who reached out, took action and helped this little guy today. He is in Northern NSW and it took a team of people I’ve never talked to before, at a distance, to get him safe, voluntarily signed over, into vets and into foster care with thanks to another rescue 🤩 until transport rolls through to bring him into Iron Dog care to get that cherry eye fully treated.

He received urgent vet attention this afternoon primarily for the eye infection that had set in but also vaccination and worming.

I know nothing about this little rott - no idea how old he is …nothing …so please no questions about him …his story will unravel over time.

On behalf of this ratbag …thank you everyone who saw him and have taken valuable time to get him assistance and care.

Time for a wee chat.

You think we misunderstand you.
That we have no sympathy for your particular situation.
Maybe we realise more than you think.

Let's translate what we actually hear every single week:

1. "It was just a whoopsie litter."
Translation: The female was taken out while in heat. She wasn't managed. That's irresponsible.
A true accident is a dog jumping your fence. Not taking her to the dog park because you thought she was finished. And not taking her around to your friend's house who just happens to have that male dog.

2. "It's for the betterment of the breed."
Really? How is it betterment when mothers are mated to sons and fathers to daughters?
We know you do it, sometimes you're open about it. Inbreeding isn't betterment. It's like genetic soup left boiling too long. It doesn't lock in the "good stuff", it can concentrate everything that is wrong. Disease, bad hips, bad hearts, shorter lives.

3. "For the kids to experience the miracle of birth" / "So she can be a mum once."
So the kids can also experience the miracle of emergency C sections? Of mastitis complications? Of puppies that don't sell?

4. "We didn't want to put her through desexing, it's cruel / too expensive."
So instead you put her through 9 weeks of pregnancy, hours of labour, and all the risks because you either couldn't keep two dogs separate or actually wanted this to happen. Desexing is one planned surgical procedure. Pregnancy and whelping come with risks you cant always plan for. You really didn't spare her.

5. "They've been vet checked."
And what exactly does that mean?
Because it can mean as little as one minute per puppy when you turn up at the vet with eight of them.
Eight puppies. Eight quick examinations. And suddenly "vet checked" becomes your big selling point.
You can have eight vet checked pups and two breeding parents who have never had a single health test.
And the buyer? They hear "vet checked" and think you've done your homework.
And that's exactly what you're counting on.

Because here's what WE see.

We see the weird hips and the sloppy sits at 10 weeks old.
We see the puppies already displaying behavioural problems that should have alarm bells ringing
We see the fear, the anxiety, the puppies already struggling to cope with ordinary everyday experiences.
Because you either don't know the first thing about raising a litter and giving those puppies a decent start in life, or you simply couldn't be bothered learning.
We see the supposedly "miniature" puppy that's the size of a small horse at 12 weeks.
And the other "miniature" that's actually just five weeks old and should never have left mum.

We hear the ridiculous advice you give puppy buyers.
We see them following your "rules", sometimes to the absolute detriment of their own puppy. Because they genuinely believe you're the expert.

We see the owner saying "he's a pure XYZ, papers are on their way."

And the ones that don't sell? They get given away free to anyone who will take them. Or worse, they become stock for the next litter.
No one questions who the mum or dad is. Some purchasers only care about the cute photo.

And you know it.

So no. You're not misunderstood.
We understand you completely.

🫩 let’s continue not to address the cause of the problem …instead continue to spend millions to simply oversee the problem while everyone else attempts to solve it.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

🚨 URGENT – THREE ROTTWEILER BOYS NEED RESCUE | MELTON, VICTORIA 🚨2 years old

💔 We need two foster carers and one adopter to step up for three boys currently sitting in pound care. 💔

Behind those big heads, strong bodies and beautiful Rottweiler faces are three boys who desperately need someone willing to give them a chance. 🐾

All three boys have had limited to zero handling, which means they will need patient, understanding people who are prepared to take things slowly, build trust and allow them the time they need to learn that the world can be a safe place.

These boys aren’t going to be an instant success story. They will need commitment, consistency, experience and, above all, people who understand the Rottweiler breed and the importance of setting them up for success.

❤️ We are urgently looking for:
🏡 Two experienced foster carers willing to open their homes and hearts to help these boys begin their journey.

🏡 One suitable adopter who understands the commitment involved in taking on a dog with limited handling and is prepared to work patiently towards building a lifelong bond.

Home requirements:
🐾 Experienced Rottweiler homes are essential.
🐾 Homes with no other dogs are preferred. Placement with a known, socially compatible dog may be considered, provided there is the ability to keep the dogs separated and carry out slow, careful introductions.
🐾 Two of the boys are undesexed males. They cannot be placed in homes with undesexed female dogs.
🐾 Proof of desexing for any resident female dog will be required where applicable.
🐾 Secure management, patience and a genuine understanding of the breed are a must.

We know these boys may be harder to place because they haven’t had the handling and opportunities every dog deserves. But their lack of experience with people doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a future.

Somewhere out there are people who understand that trust takes time. People who won’t expect too much too soon. People who can look beyond the challenges and see three dogs who deserve the opportunity to feel safe, to learn, and to have a chance at a better life.

If you can’t foster or adopt, sharing this post could be the very thing that connects one of these boys with the person he needs.

Let’s not allow their limited handling or circumstances to define the rest of their lives.

Thanks so much to the REECE GROUP AGAIN Reece Bathrooms supporting our kennel complex. After some adjustments to the plans they swapped and upgraded our Hot water system, provided a shower system and a diverter to switch our pump from tank to mains!

Hes not a rottie, but Jack was one scrawny little guy that needed to be saved from the pound before time was up! Only 1 day left from memory ..... i received a message (Kelly) from a lovely lady that helped these poundies on the kill lists, asking if i can help him.... i already had Chase in foster, 'thats ok i know you can take on this boy who is desperate' i was told....
I spoke with Sue and 2 days later Jack arrived in Melbourne, skinny, timid and so sad. Luckily Chase was adopted the night before and went on trial the day Jack arrived!

It didn't take too long to get Jacks weight on him and Nova his foster sister taught him how to play with a rottie.... in 3months he was able to drag Nova when they were playing tug of war! 😂💪🏼
The obedience club knew when Jack was in class 😂 he told everyone.... young and in his teranasaurus rex stages with no training when he arrived, Jack did pick up on things pretty quickly- when he chose too.

The best news is Jack went on his adoption trial just over 2wks ago...
even though he did end up in doggy jail after a week.... cheeky boy 😉 his new dad didn't give up on him.. (i said that maybe the cat told him to nick off 😂)

James has written:

He’s settled in incredibly well over his first two weeks. He and the cat have worked each other out, and they’re now co‑existing like seasoned housemates. He’s already been to the beach, gone on hikes, and even had a brief stint in doggie jail — which he handled with his usual charm.

Jack’s had playdates with friends’ dogs, and his social interactions are becoming much calmer and more confident. He’s also improving on the lead and is getting used to walking on my left.

Food-wise, he’s decided he’s far too classy for canned or rolled dog food. He prefers to graze throughout the day on fresh food like a little king.

He’s a massive cuddle monster with a cheeky streak — especially when he’s trying to worm his way onto the couch for snuggles, or when he throws a ball at you to make it very clear it’s playtime.

He’s doing brilliantly and settling into his new life perfectly.
