I do support breeders that take responsibility to rehome their pups when needed. These breeders are ones that do. I refer people better suited to a well bred, temperamentally sound rottie pup, rather than a rescue, to this breeder. I’ve seen they are responsible and ethical.

I do trust that small adoption fee also covers his desexing cost.

I know that undesexed dogs attract those who hope to make a buck to breed, those backyard breeders who then, rightfully, state they have bred from a good bloodline.

I do get calls from people wanting undesexed dogs …then we have the argument about that 😮‍💨

I’m confident this boy will be rehomed to a responsible owner and we won’t see any of his litter in the future.

Beautiful Sky ❤️

Travelling to Newcastle with Michael and Chelsea 🤩 to begin her trial and we trust, her new fulfilled and happy life.

Thank you so much guys for your time and travel and in particular, taking note of all of my observations about Sky and her needs. I could easily see Sky will be truly considered and cared for in your home.

Brissie now Bundy ❤️ is in safe hands of Bear (Bruce). A wonderful man, proud dad of two Iron Dog kids Bear-Bear ❤️ and Lilo ❤️.

I must say I gasped when I saw the safe ride pics of Bundy. I was expecting a skinny, gangly kid - maybe a rottie or a rottie cross. Instead a fine young lad indeed, in looks and temperament.

Bear is acclimatising Bundy to his new digs and good girl Lilo and good boy Bear-Bear have easily welcomed Bundy.

I can’t thank Bruce 🤩 enough. I know Bruce dida lot of work to prepare for the arrival of Bundy.

Without you all we can’t help these gorgeous dogs out of sticking situations. Thank you 🙏

Bundy will be off to the vet Monday for all the necessary checks and vaccinations so we can keep him safe.

Our new building inspectors this week were Scout and Annie who approved the work.

I have told the builder no post paw inspection till slab has cured 🐾🐾🐾

I got razzed on a previous post where people thought I got a bit judging about people surrendering dogs and the reasons they do that.

I’ll admit I do get a bit arrogant. After reflection I do realise I come across as trying to be superior. Always dictating why people should desex, vaccinate, go train your dog, think before you commit to a puppy, choose your puppy and breeder wisely. You should be in it for life. But many are not. That’s why we, and too many others , are here to pick up after ill considered choices and pander to people looking for an easy out from responsibility. And that’s why I get judgey …I’ll explain but I won’t apologise.

Our little rescue this year, to date have rehomed 76 dogs. We have 10 to 15 dogs on our waiting list at any given time. Currently 20 in care. Let's add to this, the number of dogs, that our rescue, our volunteers, have to say no to due to lack of resources. Then consider the number of dogs that we don't see, those ones that are taken into vets by their owners for private euthanasia when it all gets too hard to handle. Let's consider the number of dogs surrendered to pounds that never make it to rescue lists, that never make it to adoption lists as determined by shelter staff. Let’s consider all those dogs that are given away free to “good homes” on Gumtree or Facebook. Let’s think about why my blood boils when I see people selling puppies.

A moment of silence for the 8 pups we lost to parvo this year …bought in after being produced by an irresponsible backyard breeder and from a questionable ratepayer funded pound. We took a $30k and a very heavy emotional hit.

A moment of reflection for the senior dogs taken in, cared for and dollars spent on their welfare so they don’t endure a cold end of life in a pound.

A moment of consideration for the background work it takes to place 76 dogs carefully and responsibly into new homes. What it takes to care for 20 ever changing dogs in care…young through to senior…often with anything from mere lack of socialisation through to real, palpable trauma. From simple lack of training through to bite histories that come from owner ignorance.

We exist because everyone previously responsible for every dog we have in care has let that dog down, from irresponsible breeders through to irresponsible owners .

Without them we wouldn’t exist.

So tell me, do I have no right to try to hold people to a higher standard ?
