Good Afternoon Bethania Community.
It is sad to say Thrifty T Foodmarket will be closed at end of this Month. Me and Tina bought the shop 12 years ago, with the supports of the locals to get us going. TMR (Transport Mains Road) use $6.7M bought the whole shopping complex 2 years ago (We only found out one week before settlement that TMR will become our landlord). In this 2 years we had more than 20 meeting (big or small with TMR, local members and federal members and Shannon Fentiman's office still owes me a meeting from last year. I don't know how many people form TMR that we've seen in this period) and still don't know what is going on. TMR have pushed out my customers by knocking down houses and units around this area, and still expect me to pay the premium rent. Last year I tried to ask a lawyer to write a lawyer's letter to reduce the rent, the lawyer told me initial letter was $2000, but because she is dealing with the government it has gone from $2000 to $3300 Imagin if there was 10 letters, there goes my 3 month rent. So I decided to sell my business at a huge loss and it took TMR 3 months to pre-approve the buyer's application. Then came the harsh conditions that the buyer pulled out of buying the business straight away. Which means I've lost everything that I put in for this Shop. I've tried Ombudsman and the case was closed after they looked at it. I can't afford a lawyer to do the fight with TMR. What is the point of having a convenience store at the back of the shop with only half of the customers when the project is done, so I can only walk away.
What I am angry about the whole thing is that the previous landlord took the money and left, and we are still stuck here suffering, and that no one knows what is going on with the project. I hate the people that I dealing at TMR; they can just switch off their emails by ignoring me and they boarded up those houses and the project haven't even started, look at housing crisis now.
So come down to the shop, everything has to go.
Thanks for all the supports for all this years and wish all the best in the future.
Andrew, Tina, Bowen and Edison
