🌿 Have you noticed a change in the East corner of the Berry Springs Recreation Reserve?

Works have begun in the area focusing on fire mitigation and safety, including managing self-seeding and invasive species (like gamba grass), removing debris, and tidying up leftover materials such as old steel. This also included reducing the build-up of dead vegetation, which has contributed to an increased fuel load in the area.

This work helps lower fire risk ahead of the dry season, supports healthier native growth, and makes the space safer for our community. It’s all part of careful, targeted work to protect and maintain the Reserve.

Cricket season has officially kicked off at Berry Springs Recreation Reserve! 🏏

The season will run throughout the Dry Season, with games happening most weekends over the next few months—plenty of chances to catch the action!

A big shoutout to Northern Ground Maintenance for their hard work in getting the oval match-ready. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed!

We had an awesome (and slightly unexpected!) call over the weekend from a group of young people asking how they could use the basketball court 🏀

Just a reminder — the Berry Springs Recreation Reserve is a public community space! While we encourage membership to help support the Association that maintains the Reserve, everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy the facilities.

It was fantastic to see local young people getting out, being active, and putting their time and energy into something positive. Once they arrived, they made the most of it — shooting hoops for hours and already talking about coming back regularly 🙌

You might also notice the court is looking a little worn — we agree! The basketball court will be closed briefly in May for a repaint, but we’ll keep everyone updated as the year progresses.

All we ask is that everyone cleans up after themselves and respects the Reserve so it can be enjoyed by all 💚
