GRAI continues to call for an apology to veterans from the Prime Minister, delivered in Parliament on behalf of the nation.

For many, the harm of being investigated or discharged because of who they were has lasted a lifetime. A national apology matters to those still carrying that hurt, and to the families of those who did not live to see it.

Our Chair, David Gibson, joined Macca and Paul on Joy FM Saturday Magazine to share his experience.

Who gets remembered when we celebrate how far we’ve come?

For GRAI, the older generation belongs at the heart of that conversation. Their lives hold lessons about courage, friendship and the persistence needed to secure lasting change.

At this year’s Optus Stadium Perth Pride Luncheon, our Chair David Gibson and Connections Nightclub Tim Brown will explore “Then, Now & Next”, guided by Narelda Jacobs.

The discussion will bring a perspective that matters to leaders: progress depends on people willing to question accepted practice and make room for others.

That work continues. Older LGBTI people need aged care they can trust, relationships that sustain them and respect for the lives they have led. GRAI works towards that future every day.

We welcome the opportunity to bring their experiences into a room of Perth’s business and community leaders.

In Australia, according to the 2022 National Palliative Care Community Survey, 88 per cent of us believe it is important to think about and discuss end-of-life wishes and preferences, but less half of us have done so. The dead do not bury themselves. Other people will make decisions about your care for you. What a gift it would be for your loved ones to feel confident they were doing what you wished.
