Throughout September, the wonderful ladies from the craft group Mary’s Makers and the parishioners from St. Mary’s Parish, Echuca held a collection drive to support our organisation.

They recognised that although we are a Bendigo-based charity, our reach extends well beyond Bendigo. We support 7 different agencies in Echuca, helping many families throughout the local area and their own parish.

Not only did their generosity provide us with these wonderful donated items, but the cash donations also allowed us to purchase two of our always-needed essentials: baby bath towels and cot mattress protectors!

To everyone who contributed, organised and supported this wonderful initiative, thank you! Your kindness will make a real difference to the families we support.

Today, just after we closed, someone left several bags of donations outside our building, right underneath our sign clearly stating that we are closed until Tuesday.

We understand that our restricted opening hours can sometimes be frustrating, but we are a volunteer-powered organisation and simply don’t have the capacity to be open every day.

Sadly, these bags would have been left out in the weather until Tuesday and, in all likelihood, their contents would have ended up in landfill, which costs us money.

But then came a reminder of the kindness that exists in our community.

Haley, who has supported us in the past, was on her way to work when she spotted the bags. Knowing we were closed, she stopped, loaded everything into her car and will bring it back to us next week.

Thank you, Haley! Your thoughtfulness and willingness to help have saved these donations and reminded us that there are so many wonderful people in our community who care.

We are so grateful for people like you who understand what we do and go out of their way to support us.

A gentle reminder to everyone: please hold onto your donations until we are open. We want to make sure your generosity can be put to good use, rather than being damaged by the weather and going to waste.

In this Anti-Poverty week, did you know that child poverty in the Bendigo area averages 16.11%, with some pockets of our community experiencing rates as high as 24.1%?

Behind these statistics are real children and families facing challenges that many of us may never see. Children who deserve warm clothing, clean nappies, a safe place to sleep and the opportunity to thrive, just like every other child.

At a time when the cost of living continues to put pressure on families, the need for community support has never been more important.

We are proud to work together with the Agencies supporting families in this situation, and as community we can all make a difference. Every donation, every act of kindness and every person who stands alongside families in need helps create a brighter start for a child.

Because no child should miss out on the essentials simply because of the circumstances they were born into.

It was lovely to welcome Emily from Emily Roberts Pharmacy Bendigo to our site today! We enjoyed showing her around and sharing more about what we do and the difference we make in our local community.

We are incredibly grateful that the pharmacy has chosen us as the recipient of their Community Donor Program. Recognising the needs within the Bendigo community, they were keen to keep their support local and ensure it stays right here, helping local children who need it most.

Last week, a lovely young lady asked us, “What are you really short on?” After we mentioned a few items, she generously donated $100 from her Mum to buy “something for the kids.”

One of our biggest needs is always size 0 onesies. With little ones crawling around and wearing out the knees, we can never seem to keep enough in stock!

We were so grateful to put this thoughtful donation towards purchasing more size 0 onesies and singlets. Our size 0 tubs will be starting to look a little healthier, which means we can better support the little ones who need us.

A huge thank you to this lady and her Mum for their generosity and thoughtfulness. Your kindness really does make a difference.

With three quarters of the year behind behind us, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU.

Throughout the last month 314 babies and toddlers were referred to our service for assistance. This is the highest number of children we have assisted in a single month, in our 10 years! Because of you, these little ones were able to have cosy bedding, suitable clothing, dry nappies and be transported safely.

None of this could happen without the incredible support of our community.

Whether you donated much-needed goods, contributed financially, supported our fundraising, volunteered your precious time, or shared our social media posts — thank you.

We appreciate each and every one of you for standing alongside us and helping us support local families when they need it most.

With 7 prams heading out to new homes just this week, our warehouse supply is getting very low.

For some families, a pram is not just convenient — it can be their only way of getting their children from A to B.

If your family has finished with a pram that is clean and in good, safe condition, would you consider donating it to us? Your unused pram could make a huge difference to another family.
