My darling twinnies have gone to their forever home. Here they are in an aviary to get to know their surrounding smells, fauna and flora before being released to freedom. They came into care in January after being found snuggled up together in someones driveway. What happened to mum is a mystery. Good luck my babies.

A lovely day was had by some WRIN members on a trip to the Jirrahlinga Wildlife Sanctuary in Chewton. Just 40 minutes from Bendigo. Why not head out there these school holidays and support our local wildlife sanctuary. More information can be found on there website jirrahlinga.com.au.

So very exciting. Hopefully these sort of projects will become more common in the future 🙏

A forgotten bridge over one of the busiest commuter routes in NSW is being reborn as a safe crossing for wildlife.

What majestic animals they are, just beautiful. This wedge-tail eagle was found in the middle of bushland unable to fly. Thanks to the person who found it giving me a pin drop location and leaving rocks and sticks out, I was easily able to find it. No obvious injuries were found by the Bendigo Animal Hospital and is now in care at the Healesville Sanctuary. Hoping it is able to be rehabilitated.🤞

WRIN volunteers will be there with information & merchandise for sale. A lovely market, come and say hello.

It has been a tough month for our wildlife as they face bushfire and extreme heat conditions.
These beautiful kangaroos and joey's are recovering from burn injuries and are being cared for by the wonderful Denise at our McIntyre Shelter.
This is a common scene at shelters across Victoria as volunteers struggle to care for impacted wildlife, not just kangaroos but also possums, flying foxes, reptiles, birds and koalas.
Thanks so much to everyone across the state for their donations of money and items which have been used to help wildlife in care such as these beautiful kangaroos.
Wildlife organisations are ran by volunteers and receive no government funding so every cent and item helps.
Any donations received by WRIN up to the 11th of Feb will go directly to bushfire impacted animals in care.
Donations can be made by direct debit to the following account or via our website.

Thanks again for caring about our vulnerable wildlife 🙏❤️

Lots of heat affected ringtails coming in. One with babies in pouch and another was attacked by a cat as well. Please leave water out for our wildlife and put the water in a spot away from your cats and dogs. And of course place rocks or a stick in the water for the mini wildlife.

WRIN is overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of the Bendigo and surrounding community for the donation of much needed supplies such as tissues, gloves, bat wraps, jelonet bandages, burns gel, wipes etc and cash donations which have been used to purchase items such as vet wrap, solugel, softban wrap and specialised prescription burns cream flamazine.
All of these products have been passed onto our local shelters and wildlife carers.
Additional donated money will also be transferred directly to our main shelters to support them with on going costs.
We would also like to say a massive thank you to Bunnings Epsom for their kind donation of 8 bags of chaff which has also been passed onto a shelters to provide feed to kangaroos in care.
Thanks also to Green Cross vets in Bendigo for donating vet wrap and other supplies.
Caring for wildlife can be very costly especially those suffering from burns and requiring advanced care and treatment.
Your support is very much appreciated 🙏

A huge thank you to Petstock Bendigo for the kind donation of pet feeders which will be delivered to our Faraday shelter who has been impacted by the Ravenswood/Harcourt fire.

I spoke briefly on ABC radio this morning regarding the impact of the devastating fires in the region.
Two local shelters were directly impacted on Friday both in Elphinstone and Faraday but fortunately both are ok.

In the lead up to the fires during the days of extreme heat a number of heat stressed animals were bought into care including possums, flying foxes and birds so many of our shelters and carers were already very busy.
Over the next few days and weeks as access to the fire grounds becomes available it is expected more wildlife injured in the fires will require care. Even in the months to follow as wildlife return to burnt out areas and are faced with a lack of food and resources they will continue to need support and assistance.

Below are a list of items that would be greatly appreciated by local carers and shelters especially once wildlife start arriving into care:
Jelonet (Burns Bandage)
Softban(Cottonwool wrap)
Vet wrap
Burns gel
Cooling mats (as used for domestic pets)
High protein powder
Nitrile gloves
Soft tissues
Curash Baby Water wipes
Laundry Products

Money donations are also needed which shelters can then use directly as required. In particular our Faraday shelter is currently without power so needs to be able to purchase rechargeable items and battery lighting etc.
Fuel vouchers would also be appreciated as our rescuers cover great distances and fuel can be very expensive.
Money donations can be made via our website but I will also put our bank details in the comments.

In the meantime our wildlife need help so please support them by leaving out water, providing habitat such as nesting boxes and planting native vegetation so that they have food and safe areas.

If you see a sick, injured or orphaned animal please call our hotline on 0419356433 or send us a message via Facebook.

Thanks so much to our wonderful community for caring about our precious local wildlife.
Michelle
