Earth Day’s theme this year - Our Power, Our Planet 🌏
- reminds us that people-powered action is the spark for a just, healthy, thriving world
And here in our local communities, there are so many bold, practical ways you can step up.
Whether you’ve got two hours, two days, or a whole community resource behind you, here are local actions you can take this Earth Week:
🌱 1. Join or host a community clean-up
Pick a creek, park, bush track or urban verge. Invite neighbours. Do what you can with what you have
🌿 2. Help restore local ecosystems
Plant natives, remove invasive weeds, join a Landcare group, or start a micro–“adopt a patch” project in your street
🗳️ 3. Take civic action
Register to vote, encourage others to do the same, or write to your Council about climate resilience, walkable communities, or renewable energy priorities
🎒 4. Run a mini teach-in or youth leadership session
Schools, libraries & youth groups can host short workshops on extreme weather, climate adaptation, biodiversity, or sustainable living
🧹 5. Support a local circular economy
Host a repair café, swap market, tool share, or clothing exchange to cut waste & build connection
No matter where you live or what you have access to…
• Your actions build momentum
• Your effort strengthens your community
• Your voice powers change
Let’s be a little unreasonable this Earth Day - bold enough to believe that what we do locally, can shape the future globally
