USS Volvo

USS Volvo Variety Bash car 1740. USS Volvo NCC-1740, going where no Volvo's gone before! And the giving doesn’t stop there!

The Variety Bash is a once in a lifetime chance to experience remote and regional parts of Australia in outrageously themed classic cars, all in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity. Throughout the event, we’ll be visiting local towns, stopping into schools and organisations to help kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs through the provision of educational, health and mobil

ity equipment. Variety continues to support children, families and communities throughout the year with funds raised from the Variety Bash. Help us give Aussie kids a fair go – donate today!

Due to fatal fuel injector issues, our Volvo's Bash has come to an end. Thank you for sticking with us as we celebrate the decommissioning of the USS Volvo.

We may be down, but we're not out. See you on our next mission.

Live Long and Prosper.🖖

Captains Log, Bash date 23 August 2026 "Dead in the Water" more on that it was a long day yesterday and the ship needed the engineers again to get her started, and she ran like a dream along the 90 mile straight to lunch with another bottle of injection cleaner we headed off to kalgoorlie and the ship splattered all the way there arriving in to the what could only be described as the biggest dive In town we rest here for 2 nights, so this morning the ship again refused to start and the engineers arrived yet again and have advised there there is bigger issue going on for the car to continue this behavior, so a tough decision he's been made on the ship and it appears that she may have come to her end as a bash car, meaning a call to the RACV for the use of total care and see what happens then, so what is the plan well to try and get a hire car at this stage through them to get us to exmouth and then home but we stay positive and try and get to the finish line, so for now we wait and see.

Captains log bash date 21 August 2026, "Chief engineer report to engineering" it has been a mixed day with the ship decided that today was the day give us grief, and the engineers were called to try and get us running, finally starting we headed off to the traditional Bacon and egg roll, and the start line, on to the dirt and the ship was running fine untill lunch, ate the head of the bite where the first officer was amazed to see whales up close it was then off to Madura filling the care up at $2.95 a litre was not fun but the ship is running ruff with an ongoing fuel issue I fear that this may be her last run but while she is still moving forward we push on, we have arrived in Madura and have set up swags tonight so we will see what happens in the morning,

Captains Log Bash date 20 August 2026 "Shields up Red Alert" more on that soon, we started the day at the Port Lincoln special school where a donation was made for special bikes, we then headed to lunch and finally on to the dirt, roads where the ship could do warp speeds and fun was had, we stopped at a local school, where the kids were waiting for us, and that's where I needed to raise shields, I made the mistake of having my box of lollies in my lap to hand out, as soon as I stopped there 30 hands in the car asking for lollies at the same time, the first officer was too busy laughing to even consider helping, any way we finally got going to lunch and made our way to Ceduna after a stop at Smokey Bay, we now rest and move on to Madura tomorrow

Captains Log, Bash date 19 August 2026, "Warp Speed Make it So!" We started the day at the Tanunda football club rooms where a donation of $7000 for a boat swing for the local special school was made, wen then went to the car and that's where problems started, the technology employed for our directions did not want to connect to my phone for Android Auto and a hissy fit was had by the Captain with said tech thrown in to the back seat of the ship, the first officer then decided that s dressing down of the captain was needed, and he used some 4 letter words that I can not repeat with out offence, with that out of the way the route again was changed to tarmac and only a little dirt for the morning run to lunch at leaving at 0830 we were expected to be in Kimba at around 1300 for lunch the one problem we had 470 I'm to travel, so once on the tarmac the first office threw the route notes aside and we set course to Kimba our 1300 arrival time for lunch turned in to 1430 and I must say the ship at a warp speed of 120kph preformed as expected of her, after a few happy snaps and lunch in the historic Kimba hotel we again headed off on the tarmac on changed route notes due to recent rain to Port Lincoln, again the warp drive was engaged and the arve check in made by 1700 some 680km for the day tonight is the presentation for fundraising at dinner and a little bit of a sleep in in the morning as we have a 0700 bacon and egg roll scheduled.
