Our beautiful Port Phillip Bay is under serious threat from the proposed toxic discharge associated with Vopak’s gas import terminal.

A passionate community member has started a petition highlighting serious concerns about the potential discharge of toxic chemicals into Port Phillip Bay if this project goes ahead.

The petition is now live — sign via the link in our bio and add your voice to the growing community call to protect our precious bay.

Together, we can help stop this project from gaining government approval. 💙🌊

We had such a fun time at the Deakin Sustainable Careers Expo today, sharing what we do at Geelong Sustainability and chatting with students about our events and the many ways they can get involved and volunteer with us!

It was really interesting to see how curious everyone was and hear their questions, ideas and interest in making a difference.

Thanks to for such a well-organised event and for bringing together so many curious and passionate people under the same roof. As part of our growing partnership with Deakin, we’re always excited to find new ways to collaborate. More to come!

We’re excited to share some highlights from our "Community Electrification Engagement Program", delivered on behalf of the Victorian Government and completed in June.

Over the past year, we’ve been working alongside our partner organisations to build understanding, confidence and momentum in our communities around electrification. We’re proud to have helped people explore practical pathways to cleaner, more affordable and resilient homes.

We’re strongly advocating for continued funding from the government so we can build on this momentum and keep supporting communities to take action on electrification.

Join us for our September Climate Connect!

After our very successful Climate Connect event on July 22, where we had a great time re-connecting with our community, chatting with old friends and meeting new ones through some fun activities, we are planning another Climate Connect Event on Thursday 10th September.

During this networking event we will explore what this summer has in store for our region. This important event “Snapshot: The Summer Ahead” will explore how our region can respond to a changing climate. It's an opportunity to better understand the risks with the Super El Niño, share practical ideas and discuss how we can build resilience together.

We will then spend some time networking and connecting with our community. No matter how much or little contact you have had with other Geelong Sustainability events in the past, we encourage people of all ages, backgrounds, interests, and lifestyles to come along, meet new people and chat with like-minded humans.

The EES hearings are coming up over the next month, and we want to support you to make your voice heard loud and clear.

We are hosting a webinar next Tuesday 21 July from 5:30 - 6:30, which is designed to address any and all concerns you might have about presenting at the hearing, and share some tips on what to prepare and what to expect.

We want to support you, so we would love to have you there, regardless of whether you're 100% in or still on the fence.

We are so excited to be delivering a Climate Risk Forum in partnership with Surf Coast Environment Group thanks to a Surf Coast Shire Council Climate Emergency Grant.

🌿Geelong Sustainability and Surf Coast Environment Group – $10,000 grant for staging of a Community Climate Risk Forum. The forum will bring together residents, businesses, emergency services and community groups to explore impacts of climate change and connect people with practical resources.
🌿Aleisja Henry, auspiced by the Surfrider Foundation – $5,000 for staging of a Surf Coast BioBlitz one-day community-led citizen science event.
🌿 Common Ground Project – $5,000 for a Schools for Climate, Regeneration and Climate Action project enabling 250 students to attend climate and regenerative education programs led by Common Ground Project, Freshwater Creek.

The results are in!

Our Electric Homes Program 2025 delivered some outstanding outcomes for the region. We'd like to say an absolutely huge thank you to our major supporter of Greater Geelong as well as all our incredible Delivery Partners and community partners who made this program possible.

And the best part? We'll be back in late 2026 ⚡
