🎶 Celebrate the Talent of Our Young Musicians at the Bellingen Youth Orchestra Winter Concert – Northern Resonance! 🎶

Join us for an inspiring afternoon of music as the Bellingen Youth Orchestra takes centre stage for our much-anticipated Winter Concert, Northern Resonance.

Be captivated by exciting performances of 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' and 'Devil’s Dance', brought to life by our talented young musicians whose enthusiasm, passion, and dedication continue to impress audiences year after year.

✨ But wait, there's more!

🎻 Our Bellingen Youth Cygnet Orchestra, featuring students from our String and Wind Schools, will perform works by Carl Strommen and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, showcasing both contemporary and classical orchestral traditions.

🎺 Our delightful Wind School musicians will present Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Johannes Brahms—a vibrant audience favourite bursting with energy, character, and rhythmic excitement.

🎻 BYOSS, our impressive junior string ensemble, will showcase their growing musicianship, confidence, and ability to perform as a cohesive and dynamic ensemble.

🎼 And finally, enjoy a polished performance from Sinfonia, our advanced string ensemble, highlighting the musical growth, expressive depth, and artistry its members have developed throughout the year.

What a delight it was to once again support NSW Department of Education's The Arts Unit as they presented this year's Compass Festival. Over two nights, our orchestra—joined by players from the North Coast Festival Orchestra—supported more than 1,000 primary and high school students as they performed a range of carefully curated choral pieces.
We love giving back to our community, and this event is always a highlight of our playing calendar.

We are sad to announce that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we must postpone our upcoming event, Sinfonia presents ‘Dance of the Seasons’. All refunds can be processed through Humantix.

🎻 Join us for an evening of music with Sinfonia, our advanced string ensemble, under the direction of Amber Davis. The program features Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, combining live strings and spoken word, along with solo performances from Sinfonia musicians. Our 2026 Senior Scholarship Round saw a record 16 applicants this year. The standard across both the written applications and live performances was exceptionally high, and our adjudicators were very impressed with the level of musicianship, preparation, and skill demonstrated by all applicants. It was certainly a difficult decision.
Congratulations to all 16 players who took part in the scholarship process. We would also like to thank our financial supporters for helping make this pathway possible, along with our adjudicators, music teachers, piano accompanists, parents, and volunteers for their ongoing support throughout this scholarship. We look forward to seeing some of these players perform at our upcoming event on June 13, where Sinfonia presents 'Dance of the Seasons!'

Our Senior Scholarships are just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited! We’ve had a record number of applications this year—16 in total—which is a fantastic reflection of the dedication and passion of our senior players.

After submitting their written applications, players will now take the stage to present a piece of their choice Friday May 8 at Stockton Hall, Bellingen High School. It’s always a highlight to see their hard work and individuality shine through in performance.

Having being involved with the BYO for around 9 years now, I always love catching up with past players and discovering where they are at. BYO has and always will be 'more than just the music'.
