CRIMINAL GOVERNMENTS DESTROYING AUSTRALIA’S
WILDLIFE
It has to stop. Labor, Coalition governments are deliberately exterminating our iconic, irreplaceable wildlife causing immense animal and human suffering.
In NSW, the Minns’ Labor government is blackmailing the environment movement over the Great Koala National Park. Either agree to the park being a carbon credit offset for fossil fuel projects - the carrot being no logging - or NO park. Sounds good but in reality, it’s awful. Instead of bringing down carbon emissions, the scheme encourages fossil fuel mega carbon emitters to go for broke. Offsets are their dream escape route.
Basically these are the two issues.
The Labor Party promised the Park 15 years ago. No strings attached. The carbon offset scheme is a massive scam.
Minns’ blackmail has created a civil war in the environmental movement. (a major plus for corrupt governments) .. those that agree with carbon offsets and those that believe (as does Koala Crisis) native forest logging must end without strings attached. That monetizing nature – turning forests, wildlife, ecosystems into an environmental trading post based on $$$ is insanity and must be stopped.
Promises must be kept. In blackmailing the environment movement Labor Premier Minns has demonstrated Labor promises are not worth the paper they’re written on. Electoral promises are lies. Politicians can’t be trusted. Democracy exists on paper, not in reality.
The Queensland government is doing its best to wipe out the state’s remaining koalas. Planning laws over-riding any prohibitions that might protect ANY koala habitat. Denying public citizens the right to challenge appalling destructive government decisions.
Queensland’s government has just passed legislation which allows for the government to acquire land for private projects for the first time. The bill grants the executive branch of government significant powers to expedite what it deems "strategic" projects.
The bill also weakens appeal rights and allows for other legislation to be edited through new "modification orders".
The Victorian government is making an Olympian effort to destroy the state’s wildlife. Helicopter shooting of koalas, killing kangaroos, wombats, resulting in more than 1 million native animals killed by the government in 2025 including almost half a million waterbirds.
Shelters live in fear of their licence being taken away if they complain about Labor government’s policies of cruelty and extinction.
FOI’s don’t work. Complaints are ignored.
Albanese’s Labor government is the most anti-environmental, ignorant, callous, brutal federal government in recent history.
Millions of kangaroos are shot, forests bulldozed, forest fauna and ecosystems lost, koalas in real danger of extinction, no climate trigger in development approvals, no adequate plans for bird flu, no focus whatsoever on Australia’s declining environment.
Upgrading koalas and other wildlife to endangered status means SFA. There’s no increase in any habitat protection, just open slather for developers.
Then there’s the Greens. Koala Crisis has just received the latest Green magazine. As usual, there’s not a single article about koalas (ignoring the Australia Institute 82% of Australians polled showing support for habitat protection), the catastrophic loss of wildlife and the appalling cruelty, the efforts to turn nature into a money machine, these are major significant critically important issues and should be a top priority for the Greens.
