With rain forecast for this week we may see some flash flooding in low lying areas, roads and causeways. There is a high possibility of thunderstorms with isolated heavy rainfall along the NSW coastal fringe.

At this stage the heavier rain is predicted for south of our area with a Flood Watch issued for the Orara and Bellinger Rivers including the Coffs Coast area.

NSW SES and the Bureau are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you updated.

⚠️ Please stay off the roads if you can: there are multiple road closures and lots of accidents due to snow on the highlands and flooding on lower ground. β„οΈπŸ›‘πŸš—
- Waterfall Way is closed in both directions between Ebor and Armidale
- New England Highway is closed in both directions from Armidale to Glen Innes; Kentucky and Uralla; Moonbi to Bendemeer
- Oxley Highway is closed in both directions Bendemeer to Walcha
Many other minor roads and low level crossings are closed or impassable.

Residents in Northern New South Wales who have been severely impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred can apply for the Personal Hardship Assistance Grant.

This jointly-funded emergency financial assistance of $180 for individuals or up to $900 per family is to cover essential costs such as food, clothing, medicines, and emergency accommodation.

It is open to residents in the Local Government Areas of Armidale Regional Council, Ballina Shire Council, Bellingen Shire Council, Byron Shire Council, Clarence Valley Council, City of Coffs Harbour, Dungog Shire Council, Glen Innes Severn Council, Kempsey Shire Council, Kyogle Council, Lismore City Council, Lord Howe Island Board, MidCoast Council, Nambucca Valley Council, Port Macquarie Hastings Council, Richmond Valley Council, Tenterfield Shire Council and Tweed Shire Council.

There are eligibility requirements, such as:

❌ evidence of hardship as result of the disaster, making them unable to meet immediate needs

⚠️ been subject to evacuation orders, or have experienced power outages of more than 48 hours

The Dorrigo mountain landslides have quickly had a big impact for Plateau dairy farmers. Some are having to dump milk, with milk trucks unable to get up the mountain.

Around 4.00 pm - once she gets this afternoon's milking done - local dairy farmer Purdy Francis from Emmervale Dairy Farms will be talking to Kye Ruigrok on how their Jersey cows and the farm is being affected by the rain and landslides.
